Very good quality part. The old one was not disengaging properly in cold weather, resulting in a split second gear grind that would have done flywheel damage eventually. This one fit perfectly, solved that problem, sounds much stronger than the old one. Fast shipping too.

Answered by Grace G. / Fri, Sep 20Question: I need to replace the starter in my hot rod. The motor is believed to be a late 70's/early 80's 305 Chevy with a 9 tooth starter motor. The starter is peculiar as it has offset vertical bolts that hold the starter to the motor. From the front of the motor the starter is on the left side of the block and the bolt that is closest to the motor is 1 1/2 inches forward of the outside bolt and closer to the front of the starter. The picture in your online catalog for replacement part i# 88877110 looks to have this offset but the pictures in the catalog don't specifically show enough detail of the potential offset. Is this the right part for my application??Mark S. / May 13, 2023
Hi Mark, I'm glad to assist you. Our starters are all listed for a specific vehicle application. Most are direct-fit ones. It is better if you can provide a specific part number so we can check if we have such a part. We do not list a universal type of starter for a hot rod.
