finally got around to installing this. so it worked out with one minor modification, i plastic shroud needed to be cut off inorder to fit and put the lock hook on. now that it is installed no more listening to the warning tone for 60 seconds that the door is open when it is not. works great now.

Exact fit, but no instructions. Not really necessary if you pay attention to how the old one comes out. Have to partially remove the window frame. And the little red plastic piece is removed after everything is connected.

Yes. You might have noticed some alarm problems too. Just make sure to leave the red plastic piece in place until you have the lock assembly installed.

Hey Nick
I would say a definite maybe. Unless harness has come loose from the lock assembly, replacement is the solution. You should have some other symptoms if the lock is defective - like no lights when door is opened and weird alarm problems. Also note that when installing the new lock, do not remove the red plastic piece until the lock is completely installed.

Answered by Glenn E. / Sun, Jul 25Question: All doors unlock when the unlock button is depressed except for the drivers door. It will not open from the inside or outside. I hear it locking and unlocking but it just doesn’t quite unlock all the way. I rolled the window down and used a slim jim to assist opening. It will open and close fine in and out until I lock it again. Is it the latch assembly?Warren H. / May 05, 2023

Question: 2002 Audi a4 quarto: drivers door is shut and locked; won't unlock manually using inside /outside handles/key, fob/etc; how do I get the door open/unlocked so I can remove the door panel and get to the lock control module. Have a video showing how to open?Richard P. / Jan 08, 2022
Hello! I recommend contacting a locksmith to help open the door. It can be very tricky to get access to the latch mechanism when it is stuck shut like that!
