They dont cover the whole door .just the vinyl area behind the door handle .they go from the door handle to the aft edge of the door its the area that the vinyl covers it tends to break down and separate from door. You need complete foor cover panels and they are expensive

Be aware of the convertible panels and the coupe panel differences. They arent the same.
I own two VW New Beetle's one convertible the other a coupe. Both had the arm rest falling apart issues. Bought this to cover the arm rest and the cardboard panel insert wasn't structurally sound to attach these. Best of luck in your hunt.

Am I to surmise that this is a hard plastic/poly panel that replaces the entire now ratty looking upholstered door cards in a 2004 Beetle Convertible? Dare I ask if these are actually molded in VW color? Does one need to wrestle with good old German mis-engineering and take the whole ridiculous door panel out, or have you made this so simple, as to go over the existing mess, and one need only lightly screw this to the existing panel(mess)? covers the vinyl area of the door and a half inch of the vinyl near the outside edge still needs to be there just covers up the area around the arm rest that is vinyl people think its a complete door cove its not

Answered by Waters M. / Sun, Feb 19The panels are a hard PVC plastic. Just the panel has to be removed not whole door panel. It’s held on with 3 black screws at top and bottom. Rather not have the screws but looks much better than ratty door panels.
