Hi Roslyn,
The purpose of torque mounts is to support the weight and torque of the engine. It also helps isolate excessive noise and vibration from the engine which may cause discomfort for the passengers and the driver of the vehicle.
While the the job of an engine mount is not only to hold the engine in place, but to reduce the engine vibration felt inside the car.
