Hello! If you’re picking up the halogen headlight assembly, yes, it is an incredibly easy installation. Basically with the hood popped there’s a plastic retainer (like a flat rod, I think) in front of/above the assembly that you pull out vertically to loosen the current headlights. Then you can lift the assembly out from the car, and just unplug the wires in the back of the assembly. Installation is as easy as plugging the wires in the back of the new assembly, pushing it down into place, and sliding the plastic retainer back into place. HOWEVER, if you’re looking to make use of your car’s active bending lights (when you turn while driving, your headlights angle to where you will be located instead of in front at all times), then the halogen assemblies don’t work. I know the xenon ones do — not sure if any other assemblies do. If you go that route, you need to go to a dealer to install them because they hook it up to a computer and calibrate the rotations and vertical positioning. Both headlights (left and right) have to have that feature available in order to make use of the feature. Otherwise, if you’re not interested in the active bending, you can throw in the halogens easy and I believe just disable the ABL option in your car’s dash menu — otherwise it leaves an error on the dash. Hope this helps!

Yes, check out YouTube for video. There are two long "pegs" sort of like tent stakes that hold the entire assembly in. Most likely the seal on the old assembly will be stuck in place due to age, youll need a thin (1/8"-1/4") plastic scraper to run along the old seal to loosen it for removal. Then wiggle away until you find a sweet spot, the assembly will pop right out. Make sure you have a chair handy so you can set the old assembly on to remove the wire harness, this will be stuck as well due to age, just work it back and forth until it becomes free. Reverse install is much easier, it's just getting the old unit out that's a pain.

This is the Original Poster, thank you everyone for the responses. I ended up doing it myself after finding the specific OEM Model replacements. Little more than this particular model but sure I saved some money with the DIY and shopping around. Was easy and they are working correctly. Thank you again for the help in making the decision. The old lights were in truly horrible condition. Except for being a 2013, car looks almost new again. What a simple change.

I did it with no issues whatsoever and I would be consider a novice as well. You need to remove a couple of items but not a big issue.

Yes I am a Volvo tech. There are two clip/rods that pull out of the top. It should not take you longer than 5-10 minutes to swap out

If it's as easy as the 2012 S60 then the answer is yes. Super easy to do.

Question: Can this be converted to LED and do you recommend it?Bryan F. / Nov 13, 2020
Hi Bryan, If you just want to have a brighter light, you can just simply replace the halogen bulb with an LED. Most LED bulbs are now designed to retrofit to the existing light fittings. You can seek assistance from an auto supply store in your area for the fitment and type of LED bulb.

Yes they match, and the part fit like a glove. Also has new seals included. Also if you've never changed one of these its really easy but you'll need a rigid plastic scraper and wedge it between the lower front of the old lens and lower fairing, this needs to be about 1/8" thick. Give this a slight twist to break free the old seal interface, then the old unit will pop right out.

Yes. The bulbs are halogen. I purchased the driver side and after replacing it I saw the difference in the lens on the passenger side so I replaced that one also. The lens quality is good with the new ones. Initially I only replaced the one because it was hazier than the other. I should have bought the set and saved a little.

Hi Ken, thank you for reaching out. We suggest you reach out to your local dealership if there is an available wiring harness that you need for your headlight. It’s unlikely that you have a problem with the wiring unless there was any damage to the wiring lead which would probably be visible. I would say that if you had water intrusion in the headlight housing, the socket is probably corroded. It sounds like you’re going to replace the headlight housing anyway because of the cracked lens. That should fix your problem. I would also add that if you’re going to replace one, replace them both. If you’re like me, I replaced one and then it irritated me when I saw the difference in the look and the beam quality so I bought the other side and have been happy with the results.

I'm only aware of the harness and plug that comes with the replacement part. check your manual and see if each headlight is on it's own fuse. Sorry I couldn't be of assistance.
