Glad I made this purchaseHitch 2 In. Receiver
5.0/5
The curt hitch arrived on time and in good condition. It's a quality hitch with all parts provided for installation. The installation video was most helpful for the installation and the install was complete in about 40 minutes. It looks great and is fully functional.

Question: Would I be able to tow a short flatbed trailer loaded at the max 8000lbs weight rating with a 2007 Lincoln Towncar 4.6L without any rear suspension upgrades or brake upgrades?  (and without a functioning trailer brake)?  I'm open to all opinions as well as regulations.  Thanks!  AndyANDREW M. / Mar 20, 2022
Hi Andrew, thank you for reaching out. We highly suggest that you follow the tow rating of your vehicle. A trailer brake is necessary for safety purposes. You can use this link to go back to the item page and continue the order: https://www.carparts.com/hitch/curt/cur13707?can=CPAP3648_20220320

HELLO ANDY, NO! YOU CAN NOT SAFELY DO THIS. 1) DOUBLE CHECK THE OWNERS MANUAL OR CALL FORD, BUT I AM PRETTY SURE THE MAX TOWING LOAD ON YOUR LINCOLN IS 3500 lbs. 2) THAT MUCH WEIGHT WILL KILL YOUR TRANSMISSION AND TOTALY SMOKE YOUR BRAKES AND PUT ALOT OF STRAIN ON THOSE REAR AIR BAGS. IN YOUR CASE, FIND A 1/2 TON OR LARGER, PICK-UP TRUCK WITH A TOW RATING AROUND 20% GREATER THAN WHAT YOUR TOTAL C.G.V.W. OF THE TRAILER. YOU MIGHT BE BETTER OFF GETTING A U-HAUL OR SIMULAR TYPE TRK. TO DO THE MOVING AND SAVE THE LINCOLN FOR DOING THE 'LIGHT' WORK. YOU DON'T WANT TO BE "THAT GUY" ON YOU-TUBE. KEEP SAFE! ROBERT

The Town Cars are capable of towing up to 2000 lbs. I personally have towed up to 1500 lbs. and have noticed the pressure the car is under with that weight. Rest assured that towing more more than the car is rated for will quickly wear the rear wheel bearings and seals.
