IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER ....GREAT BUY!Ignition Lock Cylinder - Keys Included
5.0/5
Hi, I was having issues with my ignition switch for over a year, and then in the last 2 months it got really bad, where I just had to fuss and fuss with the steering wheel and kept trying different keys to the same ignition. I meant it lasted about 30 years. So, I can't really complain. Finally, I went to the car service repair place that I've gone to for many years with my 1996 Toyota 4 Runner. They quoted me 135.00 labor to replace the lock cyclinder, which I thought was really reasonable. I then asked for a price on the lock cylinder itself, and they looked it up right there on their computer and said it was 150.00. I had already seen the one on Carparts the same morning, so I told them I would provide the part. Am I happy with the price I got from CARPARTS? Saved about 125.00 at least just on this part. Starts like a brand-new 4 Runner. I also want to add that I kept receiving updates regularly on the shipping, which was really helpful when it came to scheduling my service at the repair shop. Thank you... Carparts. com

Not too clear descriptionIgnition Lock Cylinder - Keys Included

Part arrived on time, price was great but it did not specify that the key was not chipped clearly so still had to pay $360 to have a key cut, programmed and the factory security system reset.

Question: How do I program and install this?Rich O. / Jul 28, 2021
Hi Rich, I'm glad to help you out. This part does not need to be programmed not unless you have an anti-theft system. The keys will work only with the cylinder and will not work for the doors and trunk. Luke has given step-by-step instructions on how to install this part. I hope this helps. I'm not sure which vehicle that you are trying to use this lock cylinder for, but this will work for the w126, w124, and w201 chassis. You will have to take two pins that are about 100 mm long and the top portion and the bottom portion of the lock cylinder. Your lock cylinder must be turned to position one which is accessories, this is a must otherwise it will not come out. Once you have the key turned to lock position one, insert pins on the top and bottom and push all the way in with both they should release and the whole tumbler system should come out with the black sleeve around it. If you are unable to get the key into position one, try wiggling the key to make it turn into position one it may take some time but keep at it. If for any reason it does not turn into key position one by wiggling it unfortunately you might have to cut the face on the ignition cylinder. Once you are able to get the face to turn to position one then insert both pins to remove it, when you press both pins in they should release and it should just slide out. For the pins that are 100 mm long grind the ends to an angle so that way they will have ample sizing to slip underneath the clip to push it out to release the cylinder. And the ends that are ground down face the cylinder itself. Hope this helps!

Question: Would I be able to replace my lock on the door with this?Eddie T. / Feb 06, 2023
Hi Eddie, I'm glad to assist you. No. It is for the ignition lock cylinder only. It fits several or more Mercedes Benz models. For us to carefully check and be accurate on the part you need, please provide the complete information of your vehicle (year, make, model, submodel, and engine size).
