Hello! No, it sounds like the actuator has failed, or perhaps the wiring or fuses. Your lift gate supports should not prevent it from opening.

Hello! If you cannot position the liftgate to line up the ends of this support strut, then you can use a ratchet strap to compress the strut for installation.

I believe you can try to press into hard ground to compress yourself…it’s been awhile since I installed these…but I remember it wasn’t hard to do.

Snap on one side, the lift gate and bring it down to the side mount by the tail lights repeat on the opposite side
