Hello! No, it sounds like the actuator has failed, or perhaps the wiring or fuses. Your lift gate supports should not prevent it from opening.

Hello! If you cannot position the liftgate to line up the ends of this support strut, then you can use a ratchet strap to compress the strut for installation.
