Question: Hello and good afternoon Car parts chief mechanic Mia: Thankyou for reading my question. I have a 2006 Jeep liberty. My issue is  My brake light on drivers side does not function when my lights are on when i press on the brake pedal. Taillight does function correctly as do all other lights. HOWEVER , LOL When my lights are off during the day, my brake light functions correctly. I have replaced the the bulb and socket with new parts and still same issue occurs. Would i need a new taillight assembly to fix this issue. I see you have one here or do I have an issues with my fuses or wiring? Hi Steve, If your brake lights are working when the headlights are off, that puts a draw on the circuit. It could mean one of three things: The brake light system fuse is blown, the brake light bulbs (just changed?) is burned out or the brake light wiring switch is broken. Check the ground wires on the bulb sockets (although new), make sure the wire is clean at the connections, and not broken. Otherwise, we highly recommend having the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to determine what part needs replacement.
