I had a broken one on the driver's side. I bought a pair because I wanted them to match, and I doubted that they would have the same color of red, the same grey around the chrome, etc. I installed the first one and it matched perfectly. I took off one star because the bottom hole was not quite right, and I had to use a dremmel tool to get the bulb socket to fit.

The clear poly carbonate cover is over the entire lens. The optical illusion is caused by the convex reflector behind the clear cover, I assure you the whole lens is covered and not open to the elements. The only holes that exist or for the lightbulbs in the rear and a small vent tube.
