Answered by Aldrin P. / Mon, Apr 11No code. Just plug in. The challenge is inserting it. The fit isn't perfect, and, depending on the year, there may be a tab you have to cut out. But once in, it works fine.

I was at the BMW dealership and they told me I would have to replace the entire third brake light at a cost of $400! Answered by Arnel E. / Thu, Sep 09It does not just “snap in”. There are four bolts on the back that secure it to the trunk lid with spring-loaded hex nuts. The new hex nuts come with the new light. It is an easy, straightforward replacement.
