Question: On my 2001 GMC Savana the vent canister check valve I'm replacing is without the electric switch so in a closed loop system how does this work? One code is the P0300 and is recurring if this might be the problem.Jim M. / Jul 17, 2022
Hi Jim, I'm glad to assist you. The code you provided points to a defective or misfiring ignition coil. Try cleaning and using W40, then install it again to test it. Please see if you can borrow or rent a vehicle-specific service repair manual. Try to fix it first if you can and consider it to be repaired if the issue is recurring or difficult to rectify. I hope this helps.

Answered by Jeonino E. / Sun, Jul 17P0300 is a generic misfire code. The vent valve failure would show up as a EVAP related code. If this is a fault caused by anything by EVAP, I think you would see a P0171/P0174 lean condition fault. I would check the purge valve operation first. Check out Scanner Danner on youtube for a good education on all things auto electrical!
