Acura Integra Guides

Acura Integra vehicles were first seen in its launching in March 1986 as a new collection for the Acura division. Acura is an upscale division of Honda and it's the lowly Honda Civic where Acura Integra vehicles were based. The first Acura Integra was incorporated with a combination of sporty nature and lightweight, high revving engines. Available in a 3-door, 5-door, or 4-door sedan, standard engine was a 1.6 L DOHC 16v. The initial offering of vehicles from Acura Integra was an instant success because of its reputation of no compromise sports car with quick responsive handling. After almost 4 years of success, Acura Integra second generation was released and came with new 1.8 L DOHC engine. Second generation Acura Integra were available in four trim levels. These are Acura Integra RS, Acura Integra LS, Acura Integra GS-R. With few refinements, these second generation vehicles from Acura Integra were a lot more smooth and luxurious ride than its predecessor.

To give Acura Integra enthusiasts an all-new string of vehicles, third generation gave way to some controversy over its new styling and became the most recognized Integra in the industry that the first thing that came to the minds of everybody when Integra was mentioned was the third generation Acura Integra. Contribution to this sudden change of standing of Acura Integra in automotive scenes was partly because of its new set of headlights and its newly integrated bodywork. Trim levels still presented were Acura LS, GS, GS-R, with additional of an all-end Acura Integra type R. The latter type was most celebrated because of the many special features exclusive only for these vehicles. Third generation vehicles were set out from 1994 to the year 1997 but when the industry found no room for a new creation from Acura Integra, the third era went on for another four years. The continued presence of third era Acura Integra vehicles was only seen with slight changes. Fourth generation Acura Integra were launched from 2002 up to the present with the new type Acura RSX and bore new engine of K-series.

All throughout four generations of collection of impeccable line of vehicles were much celebrated until now. All of Acura Integra parts are given engineering that its offers longevity and dependability attributes. But even with the most excellent features, Acura Integra automobiles were seen with different applications that upgraded and modified to create a new uniqueness from other similar vehicles found on the roads. With Acura Integra automotive parts available in the market, these are made possible. Different manufacturers offer Acura Integra auto parts and accessories. Acura Integra auto parts can be obtained as an Acura aftermarket parts and Acura OEM parts. Other parts such as Acura Integra body parts, Acura Integra suspension parts, Acura Integra engine parts, Acura Integra performance parts, and also available are discount Acura Integra auto parts and accessories.

Putting "The Shine" on Your Acura Integra

Sport-oriented and luxurious, the Acura Integra is known as one of the best front-wheel-drive cars ever produced by Honda Motors. This car was bred for performance thanks to its Formula One roots and advanced VTEC engine. For its owners, the Integra is a reliable car and a true driving delight. However, keeping this car's "shine" can be a challenge for some car owners. With a car vehicle this good, washing is never enough. Check out these detailing tips on putting "The Shine" on your sports sedan.

Look for imperfections

Every car, including the Integra, needs proper evaluation before cleaning and detailing it. The process takes time and you need a keen eye to spot important details. Walk around your car and check it for tar or water spots. Are there any signs of bug stains or bird droppings? Run your hands over the car's body and feel it for odd surface bumps or rough spots. These small details can help you determine if your car needs regular cleaning maintenance, which takes about an hour every week. Rough or stained body paint needs about 3 hours of cleaning to achieve a glass-like feel. Looking at your car's bodywork from every angle is the first step in auto detailing.

Practice proper washing

Washing a car can either bring back its shine or permanently damage its paint job. There are proper ways on how to avoid paint marring and swirling. Generous amounts of water and car shampoo are needed when cleaning your car. If the bucket reaches 1/3 full, empty it and rinse the residue out. Fill it up with fresh water and shampoo. Start from the top all the way to its wheels. It helps keep the water clean and fresh. Always wash your car under a shade to avoid water streaks or marks. Rinse its body thoroughly before drying it with microfiber towels. If your car is silky smooth to the touch after drying it, you did an excellent job of cleaning it.

Give it a thorough polishing

After cleaning and drying your Integra's exterior, check its paint for swirl marks or scratches. An orbital polishing machine can help remove minor scratches. It may take about two hours to polish the car's exterior. Deep paint scratches can be removed by using a scratch remover formula. Touch up paints for cars can also be used for deeper scratches. Be gentle when polishing your car & avoid being aggressive.

Protect its body with a good coat of wax

A good coat of wax protects your car from the elements. It also helps extend the life of a car's paint job. Don't wax your car under direct sunlight. Divide the car in work areas to make it easier to wax it. Use small amounts when applying wax and throw away foam applicators already caked with wax. Rather than apply wax in circular motion, use a back-and-forth motion instead to apply the wax evenly. Give the wax a few minutes to dry before removing any residue. An orbital buffer or soft towel can be used to give it a final polish.

A well-kept Acura Integra doesn't just raise its value; it also reflects on its owner's attitude. Always keep these tips in mind to maintain your car's fresh and luxurious look.

Acura Integra: Affordable Luxury since 1986

The Integra was the first vehicle released by Honda’s luxury brand, Acura. The vehicle was the product of engineering and excellent designing, all of which were essential to deliver the best luxury car for consumers. The Acura is known for its excellent build quality and top notch performance which is on par with that of its luxury counterparts in Europe.

1986: First generation

The first Integra debuted in the United States back in 1986, one year after it was first released in Japan. It came in three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback and four-door sedan variants. The vehicle was powered with a 1.6 liter double overhead camshaft (DOHC) four-cylinder engine, a relative rarity for entry vehicles at the time and one of the main selling points of the Integra. The vehicle was also available with a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmission. In 1988, the Integra engine was upgraded, increasing engine output from 113 to 118 horsepower. The new engine was called the “blacktop” due to the black color of its valve cover.

1990: Second generation

Acura’s second generation Integra was offered as a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan. It came with a 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine and had a five-speed or a 4-speed automatic transmission. A retractable shoulder belt was introduced in 1991, partly due to US laws mandating the installation of shoulder belt systems in all vehicles. In 1992, the Integra engine’s output was increased to 140 horsepower. During the same year, a new 1.7 liter four-cylinder engine producing 160 horsepower was offered along with the high performance GS-R trim. The VTEC system was also introduced to the GS-R trim which led many to regard the Integra GS-R as a top performing driver’s car. The handling and performance of the car was simply unmatched by many vehicles at the time.

1993: Third generation

Two-door hatchbacks and four-door sedans were the two body styles offered with the third generation Integra. Most Integras came with a 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that produced 142 horsepower while the GS-R Integra came with a 1.8 four-cylinder engine that produced 170 horsepower and included a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. In 1997, a limited edition Integra was released called the type R. It had even better performance than the GS-R thanks to its 1.8 liter engine that produced an amazing 195 horsepower. The type R was fitted with lighter materials and an upgraded suspension system.

2002: The final generation

The last Integra, a three-door coupe, was released in the United States bearing the name, Acura RSX. The car came in two models, the base RSX and the performance RSX-S. Production of the coupe ceased in July, 2006, due mostly to the shrinking demand for the performance car at the time.
