Step 1: Park your car on a clean, level surface, engage the parking brake, and chock up the rear wheel.
Step 2: Raise the front part of your vehicle using the floor jack, and secure the height with the jack stands.
Step 3: Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts of your front wheel, and take off the wheel as well. Do this on the other front wheel.
Step 4: Unbolt the calipers mounted on the rotors using the allen wrench. Be careful when removing the caliper because brake lines are attached to them. Place the calipers on a clear surface or use a rubber cord for support.
Step 5: Locate the axle nuts, determine the size of the socket that fits on the nuts, and remove them with the impact wrench. Use the hammer to loosen the axle, and pull it out.
Step 6: Mark the position of the old bearing before you remove it. Take the hammer and punch, then strike the bearing until it comes off. Make sure that you don't hit any part that of the axle shaft that will cause damage.
Step 7: Take the new bearing, and slide it down until it reaches the position that you've marked. If it gets stuck along the way, then use the hammer and the punch once again to move it.
Step 8: Place the axle back, and tighten the bolts to secure its position.
Step 9: Replace the calipers on both rotors to their previous positions, and use the allen wrench screw the bolts.
Step 10: Put the front wheels and the lug nuts back in place, and make sure they are tight. Remove the jack stands, and test-drive your vehicle.
- Check the other parts that may affect the axle shaft bearing's performance like the seal that's located right next to the bearing. If this part is already worn-out, then you need to replace this as well.
