What started as a prototype based on the BMW X5 E53 became the legendary BMW X5 Le Mans. BMW took the V12 Le Mans Roadster (LMR) engine, placed it under the hood of the X5, and engraved the words, “V12 BMW Motorsport” on its carbon cover.
