An improved version of the Kia Rio subcompact has arrived in the United States, and it looks fresher than ever. However, an increase of $200 in the starting price is in line for the model. Still, it still remains one of the most affordable cars in the market today.
Some of its most notable features include a new set of 15-inch wheels, reshaped front and rear bumpers, and LED headlights that are offered as an option. It also comes with a 8.0-inch touchscreen, which is standard equipment for all variants. The touchscreen is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
While Kia has not released official photos of the US-spec Rio’s interior, buyers can refer to the vehicle’s European version for the styling.

The Rio’s sedan edition, meanwhile, is offered in two trim levels: the LX and S, both of which retails for $17,655. On the other hand, the hatchback, which is only available in the S trim, retails for $17,955. An optional tech package is available for the S trim for an additional $1,800. It comes with automatic climate control, proximity key entry, and driver-assistance features.
Also standard across the Rio lineup is the 1.6-liter inline-four engine that delivers 120 horsepower paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It has an EPA rating of 36 mpg combined.
The 2021 Kia Rio subcompact is now available at dealerships in the US.
