Hi Alyssa, thank you for reaching out. No, it's not. Let us know if you need anything else.

No, it isn't! They all require venting. The issue comes when the distributor is hot and a water puddle splashes cold water onto it. If it is enough cold water, the air inside the distributor shrinks (remember, that happens to cold things) and creates a low pressure. Nature abhors a vacuum and the vent will draw in whatever is available. I put a long bit of fuel hose on the vent and ran it up to a extra fuel filter I installed for this purpose. It is where it doesn't get wet. So far it's OK.

No, no optispark is waterproof. It’s a design flaw from GM. If they get wet, or the water pump fails they go out.

Question: Is there a specific way u have to put the optispark on, like would I have to turn the engine to where the dowel pin is set to seat in to the optispark correctly its a 1995 z28 camaro?Kevin S. / Aug 27, 2021
Hello! We recommend referring to a good repair manual for step by step instructions. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/

Kevin, the good news is the optispark will only go on the right way - After lubing the shaft, you can turn the crank or the optispark to get the proper alignment ... if it's not lined up perfectly, but close, you can get some wiggle out of the unit itself that may help as well.

Question: About how long with opti spark will it last and is it good?Charlie / Jun 15, 2021
Hi Charlie, I'm glad to help you out. This is our best-selling brand and is backed up by a 1-year unlimited mileage warranty. It usually lasts about 300,000 miles. The distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs could make it last longer, often replaced at the 30,000-mile (48,280-kilometer) tune-up. I hope this helps, and if you're interested in this distributor, you can click on the link below to easily order and take advantage of our ongoing sale and limited stocks. The plus with this one is that it has the vent to keep the moisture out of the distributor.
