Works just fine. I’m using it on a restored ‘57 270 SBC, The newer coils just wouldn’t have looked right.

GMC Transmode Guides

GMC Transmode: Basic Tips on How to Properly Maintain Your Vehicle

If you are one of those people who would love an RV with reliable performance and decent load-carrying capabilities, then the GMC Transmode is for you. This motor home's body and chassis were designed by GMC to be outfitted with all the features you'd want while on the road. And even if your Transmode is several years old, you can still keep it going by taking proper care of it. What you need is an understanding which parts of your motor home need the most attention and make sure that you follow maintenance schedules. Here are some tips on how you can give your Transmode a longer life:

  • Take care of your vehicle's body.

You need to take special care of your GMC Transmode's body. Doing so will not only make your vehicle look good but also keep the exterior from getting damaged and rusty. You can start by regularly washing and waxing the body to help protect it from damaging elements including the sun and rain. You should also use vehicle cover to protect it if the vehicle must sit outside for a long time instead of in the garage.

  • Take care of the engine.

If you want to ensure the long life of your vehicle, the engine is one aspect that you should focus on. Make sure not to neglect any part of your engine and ensure that it does not suffer from any unnecessary wear and tear. Checking the fluids on a regular basis is one of the steps that you can do to make sure that your engine is in top shape. Understand the functions of each of these fluids as well as the service interval for them. Know when to top up or change the fluids and change the filters. Don't wait for the warning lights to tell you; instead, consult your owner's manual for the scheduled maintenance and mark them on your calendar. The engine oil and oil filter should be your top priority. This oil keeps the engine and its various components cool and free from dirt. The filter is responsible for removing particles and debris from the oil. You will know when the oil is due changing when it looks dark or dirty.

  • Don't forget about the transmission.

The transmission is the part responsible for shifting gears. The transmission requires fluid in order to function properly. The fluid is the lifeblood in the system and your vehicle's transmission is dependent on this fluid to operate efficiently over a long period of time. The fluid provides the hydraulic power for the transmission to change gears, engage and disengage, as well as downshift. While most car manufacturers would tell you that the transmission don't need servicing, regular maintenance is necessary to keep it working the way it should.

  • Service your suspension system properly and regularly.

The vehicle's suspension system includes all of the shock absorbers and linkage underneath it. This undercarriage system has a huge part in off-road capabilities. And if you like to go on RV camping, then you need to take care of your Transmode's suspension components. You need your suspension system to function properly so it can provide you with plenty of ground clearance when driving around and over obstacles on backcountry roads. One way to ensure that your suspension system remains durable includes lubricating the chassis at key points on the undercarriage. Proper lubrication is especially necessary around the joints where the tires tie into the steering system. This will also reduce the undercarriage noise and make the chassis flex better.
