How to Install your Grille Emblem Mount in Seven Easy Steps
Whether you own a truck, van, or a sport utility vehicle or SUV, you might want to consider replacing your stock grille emblem with a new one to enhance its appearance. This part is attached to the front of the grille, and is being secured into place by a grille emblem mount. This hardware is a small and simple part; but when you take it for granted, it can cause your emblem to fall off while you are driving. That is why it is very important that you are aware of the condition of your grille emblem mount, and replace it when needed. Don't worry, it is very easy to replace this part, and you can always do it on your own.
Difficulty level: Easy
What you'll need:
- Set of pliers
- Screwdriver set
- Replacement grille emblem mount
Step 1: Lift the hood of your vehicle. You can do this by pulling the hood latch by the kick plate next to your brake pedal. Make sure that your vehicle has cooled down to avoid hurting yourself.
Step 2: Once the hood is open, check the grille assembly. You will see four gray pushpins that hold the front grille assembly. These are the grille emblem mounts. Inspect if you see signs of damage, dirt, or rust.
Step 3: Using a set of pliers and a screwdriver, remove each of the four pushpins one by one. Do this carefully and try not to damage the grille. Set the old mounts aside, and do not reuse them especially if they are already worn out. They can cause your grille to fall off if you use old mounts.
Step 4: Take the grille emblem off, and replace it with a new one if necessary. Do not bend the grille to keep it from breaking the front fascia of your vehicle.
Step 5: Pull out the five plastic pins that are being held by small metal fasteners at the back of the emblem. Remove them carefully to avoid breaking them.
Step 6: Once removed, it's time to install your emblem with the new mounts. Put on the emblem and secure it with the mounts. Make sure that the mounts are lined up as they were before. Be careful not to break them.
Step 7: Slide the grille back into place. Ensure that the mounts are tightened and secured. Enjoy the new look of your vehicle.
You can finish the installation of your new grille emblem with replacement mounts in less than 30 minutes. It would be easier if you have an assistant to help you in setting aside the parts in preparation for reassembly. It is important that you take time to check the condition of your grille assembly, up to the smallest parts, such as the grille emblem mount. Since it is positioned at the front of your vehicle, it is prone to dirt, dust, and water, making it easier to deteriorate. When this happens, it puts your grille emblem at risk of falling off.
