Wonderful, Fast, Customer Service
I have been ordering from Quadretec.... but after one and a half months waiting for bumpers and products arriving with no instructions. (I actually had to tell their Techs how a product was suppose to work) I decided to look elsewhere. This company was great!!

Tips to Keep the Best Condition of Your Jeep Cherokee Hitch

If there are parts in your vehicle that would be listed as small but terrible, your Jeep Cherokee hitch is definitely one of them. It makes sure that the trailer and its cargo will be durably attached to your vehicle when you are driving. Hence, it is important to keep your hitch well-maintained at all times to prevent any trailer accidents. Here are some tips to keep the best shape of your Jeep Cherokee hitch:

  • Use the appropriate tools and substances that can help your hitch combat rust.

Rust and corrosion can easily cause your hitch to be worn out and damaged. To prevent or eliminate this, you must use the appropriate cleaning tools and substances. If you have chrome hitch, the best buffing tool would be an aluminum foil soaked in vinegar. Vinegar is a known natural cleaning substance, so it's safe for use on chrome, and the aluminum foil isn't that abrasive, so it prevent scratches on the hitch when balled up for buffing. On the other hand, if you have an iron hitch, a wire brush can be an effective buffing tool. You must also use a rust remover that contains phosphoric acid. This is because it is safe for dissolving rust in iron hitches.

  • Apply a lubricant on your hitch to keep it working smoothly.

Even if it just a small part, your hitch should always be well-lubricated to allow it to function smoothly. For this matter, you can spray WD-40 or wipe it with grease if you think that it needs to be lubricated once again. Aside from allowing the hitch to work smoothly, the lubricant can also protect it from moisture and premature corrosion.

  • Monitor the load of the trailer to prevent your hitch from bearing too much stress.

You must moderate the amount of load that will be carried by the trailer. Excessive load or cargo may cause the hitch to struggle or even get damaged. Hence, it is important to know the capacity of your vehicle and the hitch class to be able to determine how much the trailer hitch can bear. This simple tip can save your hitch in the long run.

Tips to Remember for an Efficient Installation of Your New Jeep Cherokee Hitch

Your vehicle cannot load an entire house for sure, that is why a trailer is made available to carry your extra load. And to keep the trailer intact, your Jeep Cherokee hitch is up to the rescue. Attached on the underside of your vehicle, the hitch ensures that the trailer will not be detached from your ride. However, you need to replace it over time once it wears out. To have a secure installation of your new Jeep Cherokee hitch, here are some tips to keep in mind:

Tip #1: Raise your vehicle using floor jacks and jack stands to gain proper access to its underside.

Since your new hitch will be installed on the underside of your vehicle, you must raise your vehicle with the help of floor jacks and jack stands. The jack stands will serve as support for the floor jack to keep your vehicle steady during the installation process. Raising your vehicle can give you enough clearance on the underside to properly gain access to the area where your hitch will be attached. Consider this as a safety measure as well.

Tip #2: Remove rust in the mounting area and bolt holes with the appropriate cleaners.

Before installing your new hitch, you must inspect the area where it will be installed. This is because if the area is corroded, then your new hitch will not be attached properly. It can even be affected with rust. Hence, it is recommended to use a rust remover like WD-40 in the mounting area, especially in the bolt holes that where your new hitch will be fastened. A wire brush can also help in scraping off the rusted area.

Tip #3: Do not attempt to modify your new hitch to prevent it from being damaged.

When you are about to install your new hitch, make sure that you do not change it in any way possible. You may drill additional bolt holes on the mounting area if necessary, but you must not drill the hitch itself. This is because any modification may cause your hitch to become brittle or even break.
