Honda has earned its reputation for manufacturing some of the best cars in the automotive industry. Its enduring vehicles can last even longer if you take care of important parts like the radiator.
The Honda radiator is one of the primary components in the engine’s cooling system. Its relatively simple design is so efficient that it later saw use in aircraft engines.
The radiator removes heat from coolant fluid before the mixture returns to the engine. Together with the cooling fan, it keeps the engine cool and prevents the risk of dangerous overheating.
An overheating engine is one of the most common problems encountered by drivers on the road. You can minimize it by keeping the Honda radiator in good condition and replacing the part when it shows signs of wear.
We have a selection of quality Honda radiator replacements at great low prices in our user-friendly online catalog. Our site is safe and secure for placing your Honda radiator order. We also have a convenient toll-free number that can just as easily take your order.
After some time, the radiator of your Honda may break down and start a leak. The leak can be blamed on a leaky radiator cap, an external leak caused by a bad water pump or blown radiator hose, or an internal leak coming from the head gasket or engine block. You have to figure out which part of the radiator is causing the leak, and we're here to help you. We won't only guide you with tracing the source of the leak but will also provide you repair options for each possible cause of trouble.
Difficulty level: Moderate
Step 1: Look for signs of a radiator leak and figure out where this is coming from. When coolant levels often run low, you have to consider if it's a radiator leak. A puddle of bright liquid underneath the vehicle is also a sign. To trace the source of the leak, let the engine run warm as you open the hood. See if there's a leak coming from the hose. Also check the cap or seam for leaks.
Step 2: Fix a radiator tube leak. To separate the cooling fins from the tube, use pliers to pull them. After this, cut the tube and roll the ends onto themselves and crimp them. To seal the crimp, apply some cold-weld compound. This will become hard after a few hours.
Step 3: Replace the gasket or cap to repair the leak coming from a radiator cap. Make sure that the cap or gasket is a perfect fit to solve the real problem. Use the vehicle manual as a reference.
Step 4: Use a metal patch product to fix a radiator seam leak. Apply the patch on the seam's outside. Give it enough time to dry completely. It usually takes overnight for it to harden.
Step 5: Stop the radiator leak. To fix the leak on the radiator itself, drain it first. Once empty, you must clean the leaking part. The cold weld will seal the leaking part. It can take about a couple of hours for the cold weld to harden.
Step 6: Repair the crack or hole in the radiator. If the radiator has a hole or a crack, you can fix this with epoxy hardener or an additive for stopping leaks. The epoxy hardener is to patch openings on plastics. The additive, meanwhile, is often combined with antifreeze. This is quite easy to use. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the label.
To prevent radiator damage or wear, flush the radiator every six months. Do this regularly to extend the life of the unit and to keep it working at its prime. It will also help if you check the fluid level now and then so you can refill it when needed.
Some repairs can be temporary fixes. If the radiator took severe damage or the issue is recurring, take this to a repair specialist who has access to special equipment. Replace the faulty part if it becomes necessary.
