Seat Heat Pad Customer Reviews

This is a heating element for the seat of any equipped 03 -07 classic gm full size truck/suv. The element is made for the passenger seat but it labeled as universal for either side. I used this element for the driver seat. They put 2 side tape on the element to stick it to the foam. Not that big of a deal that the 2 side tape is on the wrong side. The element gets nice and hot just as it should.

I did not install myself. Had a professional do it. Works great. Temperature seems the same as my OEM one. Wouldn't have a car without heated seats

Seat Heat Pad Guides

Seat Heat Pad Buyer's Guide

Summary:

  • Seat heaters such as car seat warmers, heated seat covers, and seat heat pads keep you warm while you drive in cold temperatures.

  • While built-in seat warmers is a luxury feature that only belonging only in fancy cars, seat heat pads provide the consumer with a more affordable alternative.

  • A seat heat pad is an accessory installed within the upholstery of your seats that looks like a piece of white cloth with wavy strings of metal embedded inside of it.

  • Seat heat pads work by turning electrical energy into heat energy and then conducting that heat onto whatever it may be in contact with.

  • The installation of seat heat pads is generally easy as each purchase comes with an instruction manual.

  • Purchase regulated seat heat pads in order to ensure your safety as faulty products may cause damage to both you and your car.

  • CarParts.com offers a wide variety of seat heat pads. In order to find the perfect fit for you, input your car’s year, model, and make into the site’s search filters.

  • Car seat heaters cost around $39 to $382.

Winter and fall are the seasons when you’d rather crank up the heater, stay at home, and rest blissfully amidst the machine-generated heat. Unfortunately, our day-to-day lives consist of work, run errands, and go out in case of emergencies. On days when you are left with no other choice but to brave the cold, your car’s heater might do the trick and get you through those cold days and nights of driving. However, the upholstery and other materials of your car seats can get cold too. When this happens, you risk freezing both your bottom and your back off. Seat heaters such as car seat warmers, heated seat covers, and seat heat pads prevent this from happening by warming up your seats so that you can go to work, run errands, and handle emergencies with some kind of comfort and defense against the cold.

While built-in seat warmers are often regarded as a luxury feature that only belongs infancy and expensive cars, seat heat pads provide you with a more affordable alternative. While some may not consider seat heating as a need, it provides comfort that you’ll be glad money can buy.

What is a seat heat pad?

A seat heat pad is an accessory that you can install within the upholstery of your seats. It works just as it sounds, producing heat and keeping whatever it’s in contact with warm. Seat heat pads can make your car feel like a luxury model without breaking the bank by offering you an elevated sense of comfort and reliability. If you’re looking for heated seats, look no further, because this accessory will provide just that.

It looks like a piece of white cloth with wavy strings of metal embedded within it. It has wires for energy input, as well as a knob for temperature control. It’s a basic piece of technology that requires no heavy machinery or tools in order to install and enjoy. One might mistake it for scrap material, however, the wires and electrical components are dead giveaways that let you know right away that hidden behind its simplicity is a luxurious appeal.

How do seat heat pads work?

If you’re familiar with car seat warmers or heated seat covers, the concept of a seat heat pad might be old news to you. They turn electrical energy into heat energy through their heater coils, which are then conducted into the material of your car seats. Unlike seat warmers or heated seat covers that are placed over your seats, these don’t affect seat height nor burden you with any unwanted material. If you painstakingly chose your seat covers and wish to keep the same look, a seat heat pad is a non-obtrusive option for you to enjoy warm seats.

How do you install seat heat pads?

Seat heat pads are sold in packs of two that come with an instructional booklet for installation. The process relies heavily upon your ability to remove and reinstall your car’s upholstery. The pack also contains the harness, installation tools, wire ties, and upholstery rings so you wouldn’t need to look any further for the materials and tools you may need.

Finding the right heat pads

While everything stated about seat heat pads have been positive, there are dangers that exist with their installation. Purchasing the wrong seat heat pad for your seat’s material may end up damaging it., ultimately costing you more in repairs than what you saved by buying a cheap aftermarket seat heater. To avoid material warping or seat burning, make sure that you purchase the properly regulated heat pads. While branded products cost a bit more, you can rest assured that the part is manufactured in adherence to safety regulations.

Are heat pads dangerous?

As mentioned in the paragraph above, there may be dangers in purchasing off-brand seat heat pads. These dangers exist as heat regulation is a key component in products such as these. Most car warmers and seat heaters max out at one hundred thirteen degrees Fahrenheit (113°F) for a reason. This is to prevent both damage to your car and injury to you. Burning your car seats is one thing, but burning your skin is another.

Be careful with exposing your bottom to continuous heat over long periods of time as this has been proven to contribute to reproductive health problems.

Finding the right fit

To ensure that the car seat heat pad you purchase fits the shape of your car seats, select one that’s compatible with your car’s year, model, and make. CarParts.com has search filters that allow you to select which product is made specifically for your car, making the search for the right fit a hundred times easier. Universal seat heat pads are available too, although you may need to adjust it according to your seat shape on your own. To ensure proper installation, follow the included instruction manual or ask for help from a  car seat professional.

How much are seat heat pads?

They generally cost around $39, but may cost up to $382 depending on the brand, as well as the year, model, and make of your specific vehicle.

How to Install a Seat Heat Pad on Your Car's Seat

They say that if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. But if you can't take the cold while you're inside your car, what should you do? You should install a seat heat pad! Installing heat pads on your car's seats is a fairly easy job. Using a few tools, basic wiring know-how, and this easy guide, you can now drive your way to warmer seats.

Difficulty level: Easy to moderate

Tools you'll need:

  • Scissors
  • Screwdriver
  • Power drill
  • Seat heat pads

Step 1: Before working on anything electric on your car, be sure to disconnect the negative cable from your battery.

Step 2: Remove your car seat from your car and move it to a clean open space were you can work more freely. Depending on the model of your car, seats are secured on your vehicle using a series of screws. Some cars also feature seat rails to cover the bolts. If you have these rails, simply pull it off to expose the screws. Using a wrench, remove the screws used to secure the seat.

Step 3: Your seat should also be connected to your car by a power control wiring harness. Simply tip the seat back and disconnect it from the wires to let it loose.

Step 4: Now that you've moved your car seat to a more workable space, you can now start working on your seat's heat pads. First off, remove your installed seat covers. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the steel wire clips that hold your covers in place. Pull them out from the seat cushion and the seat's back.

Step 5: Place your seat heat pad on the cushion and the front of your seat's back. Cut-out five 1-inch holes in your heating pad using a pair of scissors. These holes will serve as a connection from the seat cover to the cushion.

Step 6: Install your seat heat pad using two strips of adhesive tape. Make sure that the pad's labels are facing down when placing it on the cushion. Secure the heat pad to your seat cushion and to the back of the seat.

Step 7: Fit the seat cover, and all other attachments, to your seat. Secure the cover using the upholstery clips and cable ties.

Step 8: Reinstall your seat inside your car. After screwing the bolts in place, connect the seat heat pad's wires to the wiring harness.

Step 9: Connect the electrical wires to the firewall at the front of the vehicle. Punch a hole in the firewall using a power drill. Pull the wires through and install the seat heat pad's switch.

Step 10: Reconnect the negative cable to your battery terminals to start testing your new seat heat pads.
