This installs easily if you open the trunk. You will see where the sheet is stamped for the factory spoiler . Drill a pilot hole in the center of the stamped sheet metal through the trunk lid. use the recommended drill to drill down through the to trunk lid. Perfect fit. they don't tell you this in the instructions.

Spoiler Guides

Aerodynamic - sounds cool, right? That's something your car can enjoy provided it's got a spoiler installed. This device helps regulate the movement of air across your vehicle's body while it's on the go. By disrupting the flow of air moving over or around your car, it's able to minimize drag and keep your engine from exerting too much power. As a result, you're able to keep your vehicle's fuel consumption at a minimum. Since these spoilers are placed on the exterior of your vehicle, they're constructed from heavy-duty materials to keep them from breaking down quickly. These materials include ABS plastic, fiberglass, silicon, and carbon. So even if they get hit by dirt and other types of road debris, you're assured that they're quality won't be easily compromised. Aside from having a tough exterior, each spoiler is designed to match the specifications of most vehicle makes and models. This makes them easy to set up since you won't be forced to make any unnecessary modifications to either this component or to your vehicle. So if you think that making your vehicle more aerodynamic sounds cool, then be sure to equip it with a spoiler. With its ability to control the flow of air, you can expect better road performance from your ride at every outing.

Important Facts You Need to Know About Spoiler

Many think spoilers are meant only for sports cars-WRONG! Just because spoilers are generally used by high-powered sports cars for balance at great speeds doesn't mean that that these auto parts are not applicable for street cars.A spoiler is an aerodynamic device designed to disrupt air movement across the car's body. Once installed, this device ensures better stability by decreasing the lift and drag caused by accelerating at high speeds. The spoiler interrupts the air flow over the vehicle's body and decreases the amount of lift generated by the shape of the vehicle. The increased traction enables your moving vehicle to effectively turn, brake, and accelerate with the increased stability and control.Want to enjoy all these benefits? Get your spoiler today, only from CarParts.com. We offer a variety of spoilers made from different materials.

• Fiberglass. Durable and shiny, fiberglass is commonly used in car parts production due to its strength. Spoilers made from fiberglass usually consist of fiberglass filler fastened with synthetic tar.

• ABS Plastic. Fragile and cheaper, ABS plastic is a major part of OEM factory spoilers. This plastic is usually combined with different admixtures.

• Silicon. This material has enhanced thermal characteristics and guarantees longer service life, making it the most preferred material for spoilers.

Don't Be Spoiled: Choose the Right Spoiler for Your Car

Spoilers are one of the largest and most popular product categories in the aftermarket parts industry. That's why it's so easy to get confused when choosing from thousands of different spoiler designs. Know which spoilers are best for your car and your driving needs, so you won't waste time and money on your next purchase.

How it Works

Used in motorsports starting back in the late 1950's, spoilers allowed race cars to reduce drag when they are moving at high speeds, giving them increased aerodynamic efficiency. These were soon adopted by major car manufacturers in an effort to improve fuel efficiency based on the notion that these vehicles would be more aerodynamic in the process. Nowadays, most spoilers are used more as stylish add-ons since racing spoilers would only start to improve your car's performance once you hit a speed of more than 70 MPH.

Size Doesn't Matter

A huge spoiler doesn't necessarily mean that your ride would go faster. Since most car spoilers are now designed as decorative accessories, it all boils down to simply making your vehicle look better. Be that as it may, there are aftermarket spoilers that are intended for racing applications, but you'll have to decide if you're after increased performance from your vehicle, or you'd just rather customize it for a sportier look. Most spoiler manufacturers provide a lot of technical information about their products, so you'll have an idea what benefits they'd be able to offer you.

Sporty Looks or Better Performance?

Prices for aftermarket spoilers vary based on material, size, and style. Decorative spoilers can go for as low as $100, but expect the price to go up when you're looking for performance racing products with high-end brands going as high as $1000. Regardless of your needs, make sure that you only buy spoilers that are made for your vehicle's specific make and model for a perfect fit. If you're feeling a little bit more adventurous, you may opt for spoilers that you can customize yourself. Most custom spoilers would come unpainted, so you can match them well with your ride's paint job. Installation is quite simple for most decorative spoilers, and a lot of these can be installed with minimal tools or modifications. But if you need high-end models, then you'll have to drill some mounting holes on your ride to fit them in place.

Get What You Need

When shopping for an aftermarket spoiler, we highly recommend that you only get products that will suit your needs. You wouldn't need a top-of-the-line racing spoiler, no matter how cool it would look on your ride, if you're just a casual driver. Likewise, you won't be getting any help from a cheap but stylish spoiler if you want to win a race this weekend. Once you've decided on what you need from an aftermarket spoiler, then you could narrow down your choices based on your budget and the look that you need to match your ride.

Install an Aftermarket Spoiler quickly and easily

Installing an aftermarket spoiler on your vehicle is a quick and easy way to give it a sportier look. If you have a stock spoiler mounted on your car, you can take it out effortlessly and replace it with a different design that you like. You won't need to hire a professional to remove or replace it for you, since all you'll need would be some basic tools and probably an hour of your time.

Difficulty level: Moderate

Tools that you'll need:

  • Screwdriver set
  • Ratchet set
  • Tape measure
  • Permanent marker
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Compatible aftermarket spoiler

Removing an Existing Spoiler

Step 1: We recommend that you park your vehicle in an open and well lit area so you have ample space to work with.

Step 2: Open the trunk of your car and locate the mounting bolts that connect to your spoiler underneath.

Step 3: Using a ratchet, carefully loosen all the bolts from their mounts so you could pull out your spoiler from the top of your trunk. For heavier spoilers, you might need someone to hold it for you while you loosen the bolts, so that it won't accidentally fall off.

Step 4: Clean the mounting holes with a rag and you should be ready to install your replacement spoiler.

Installing an Aftermarket Spoiler

Step 1: If your car's trunk doesn't have any existing mounting holes, then you'll have to drill some that will match the measurements of your aftermarket spoiler. Otherwise, you may skip this step and go directly to Step 5.

Step 2: Carefully place your aftermarket spoiler on top of your trunk and mark down the position of the bolts using a permanent marker. Make sure that the marks line up perfectly with your spoiler before you start drilling. You could also check the position of these marks using a tape measure.

Step 3: Slowly drill holes on the marks that you've made and make sure that you don't make them too big. You could start from a smaller drill bit and work your way to a larger hole until you've got one that will match the bolts from your spoiler.

Step 4: After you've drilled out your mounting holes, you should clear away any debris with a vacuum cleaner and then wipe the area clean with a piece of cloth. You will have to use a little bit of touch-up paint on the holes to help prevent any rusting before you install your spoiler.

Step 5: Mount your spoiler on top of your trunk by aligning the bolts into the mounting holes and tightening them up with a ratchet. You might need someone to help you out if you've got a heavy spoiler so that they'll hold it in place while you tighten the bolts. Make sure that it's secured in tight and you should be good to go.
