How to Adjust Your Vehicle's Torsion Bar
Cars need to maintain its wheels' contact with the ground, in as much as humans want to keep their feet on the ground. And that is the role of a vehicle's torsion bar suspension, a type of suspension system that uses a torsion bar as its main weight-bearing spring. Aside from suspension functions, its key feature is mostly about ride height modification. Adjusting a torsion bar is simple and can take up to 20mins only.
Here are the steps in adjusting your car's torsion bar:

Tools to be used:
- Floor jack and jack stands
- Hex-head socket driver
- Socket set
- ?-inch ratchet
- Tape measure
Step 1: Park your car on a level surface. With a tape measure, get the height of both left and right side of your vehicle. Save these measurements for future reference.
Step 2: Jack up your car with a floor jack and support it with jack stands. Make sure that the jack is placed directly under the frame. This releases the pressure exerted on the torsion bar for easier adjustmen.
Step 3: Get under your car and locate the torsion bar adjustment bolt, stretching along the crossmember behind the torsion bar. The adjustment bolt is attached to the torsion bar mount, which looks like a two-plated bracket.
Step 4: Use a 1/2 ?inch ratchet to loosen the torsion bar adjusting bolt. Using a socket, adjust the torsion bar by turning it either clockwise to raise the vehicle, or counterclockwise to lower it. Usually, you get a quarter inch with just one full turn. Avoid turning it too much as it may damage the torsion bar. Make sure that both the left and right torsion bars get equal adjustments.
Step 5: Remove your car from the jack stands and measure the height of the left and right side again. Take note of the new height measures, ensuring that the differences are the same for both sides. If not, repeat the adjustment process.
