How to Replace Your Air Cleaner Assembly
What would you prefer, a ride with lots of dirt or a ride with fresh air all the way? Of course anyone would choose the latter! To make this possible, your air cleaner assembly is there for you! This product helps to purify the air against dirt, insects, and other air contaminants while you are riding. In addition, it also enhances the style of your vehicle's under hood. However, your air cleaner assembly can wear out after a long period of time. But worry not as you can replace it by yourself with the help of these tools and procedures:
Difficulty level: Moderate
What you'll need:
- New air cleaner assembly
Step 1: You must park your vehicle on an area with an even surface. Make sure that the engine is turned off, and is cooled down after several minutes before starting the process.
Step 2: Open your vehicle's hood in order to gain access to the components that you need to remove before your air cleaner assembly. With the help of a wrench and screwdriver, take off the hoses and pipes that will show you the main cover of your air cleaner assembly.
Step 3: Once all the mentioned internal components are removed, you must detach the clips that secure the case cover of your air cleaner assembly. Pull it away from the air cleaner afterwards.
Step 4: You may now remove the old air filter from its housing. Apply gentle pressure while doing this. Remove the assembly housing afterwards.
Step 5: Before you install your new air cleaner assembly, you must clean its mounting area. A clean rag and a vacuum cleaner can help for this matter. You may also try the method of connecting the air hose onto the compressor. The compressed air will then help to blow away the dirt from the mounting area. Keep in mind that an area free from dirt and debris can enable a secure installation.
Step 6: With the help of an adhesive tape, close the air channel of the engine up while cleaning. This can help you to prevent dirt from entering the engine.
Step 7: You may now place your new air cleaner assembly. Start the installation with the air filter. You can do this by aligning the air filter properly in the case.
Step 8: Your new air cleaner assembly comes with a new case cover as well, so install it at once in order to secure the air filter in place. Make sure that the new case cover is tightly sealed to avoid any air leak from your new air cleaner assembly.
Step 9: Reinstall all the internal components, such as the hoses and pipes, that you have removed earlier in reverse. With the help of the screwdriver or wrench once again, secure their fasteners properly.
Step 10: You may now close your vehicle's hood in order to start the engine. Test the efficiency of your new air cleaner assembly, and then the process is done.
