Open Arms to a New Arm Rest
You're out in the road, stuck in traffic, and all you could possibly do is think back about the rough day you just had. So you rest your elbow, but wait-oh right! Your arm rest is broken. What do you do? You buy a new one. Repairing it can be an option, but if you can't get it fixed because it's too damaged, then you really don't have a choice. So here are some tips to keep in mind for when you buy a new arm rest.
Design, Decorate, but Don't Overdo
Upgrading your arm rest is a very easy way for you to modify the interior of your vehicle. There are a lot of designs and colors out there that you can choose from and all you have to do is pick one that matches your automobile perfectly. It's also a good idea to stick to the same design of your old arm rest so that you won't end up overdoing the whole modification. Also, find a new one that's made of really good material so that you can comfortably rest your arm in the wee hours while waiting for the traffic to move.
Where to Discover the Right Arm Rest
There are different stores in your neighborhood where you can shop for a new arm rest but some stores do not have the one that you are looking for readily available. Though it's a good idea to purchase one at an actual store wherein you can see and feel the new part yourself, the World Wide Web also has a lot of online automotive retailers that you can visit. Since we're now in the 21st century, it's time to let loose and welcome the world of technology. Read online reviews and explore the different auto websites and you just might find the right arm rest that you need. You don't even need to walk around; with just a click, you can instantly have the new part shipped to your address. But, you have to be careful if you're thinking about rummaging through old scrap pieces in your local scrap yard. Always avoid purchasing from these stores because you might end up putting your door panel in jeopardy and have to pay for jaw-dropping expenses.
These are just some tips for you to keep in mind when shopping for a new arm rest. The decision is always yours. Good luck!

Difficulty level: moderate
Things you'll need:
- Trim Pad Remover
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Fiberglass Repair Kit
- 120 Grit Sandpaper
Step 1: Using the flathead screwdriver, remove the plastic clip from the middle of the mirror mount cover. Take off the plastic cap behind the inner door handle using the flathead screwdriver. When you find a screw, unscrew it using the Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2: Slide the door handle forward and halfway out and take the handle rod off by swiveling the plastic retaining item forward and lifting the bent end of the rod out of the door handle.
Step 3: Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the speaker grille from the speaker. Next, pry off the plastic cap inside the pull pocket panel.
Step 4: Next, take out the bottom and side edges of the door panel using a trim pad remover.
Step 5: Sand the area that needs to be repaired. Cut a fiberglass cloth about 2 inches larger than the area that must be repaired.
Step 6: Mix the fiberglass resin and apply a generous amount over the fiberglass cloth and over the area that needs to be repaired. Allow it to dry overnight.
Step 7: Using the 120 grit sandpaper, sand the repaired area. If needed, you can repeat the application for a stronger and smoother surface.
Tips to Keep in Mind:
- You might want to wrap the end of the flathead screwdriver with electrical tape to prevent it from scratching the trim pieces.
- Be careful not to bend the door panel too much because it may break if done aggressively.
