Barely a year since it went on sale and Ford is already ordering a recall on 1,666 units of the off-road-focused Bronco Sport. Of the total number being recalled, 1,640 are in the United States. Ford said the problem is caused by loose rear suspension modules that need to be replaced.

The automaker has so far sold 13,000 units of the SUV-based Bronco Sport, but it was found that some may have either loose rear suspension modules or missing bolts. This could lead to vehicle instability, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford, however, clarified that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries that may be related to the issue at the time of the announcement.

All Bronco Sport vehicles affected by the recall were built at the Blue Oval’s Stamping and Assembly Plant in Hermosillo, Mexico between July 22 and November 24, 2020.

Customers are advised to bring their Bronco Sport to a local dealer where Ford will confirm if the rear suspension bolts are secured. If necessary, the bolts will be replaced at no extra charge to customers.
