BMW Alpina B7 Guides

Four Ways to Protect Your Precious BMW Alpina b7 from Sun Damage

Harmonious design, high-performance engine, well-balanced chassis, and beautiful interior: these have always been the trademark of every BMW Alpina. The b7, for one, displays a perfect blend of elegant beauty and powerful sportiness that surely satisfies drivers who are looking for comfort and sportiness. And with its luxurious craftsmanship, from the paintwork to the interior appointments, it is just right that you protect your BMW Alpina b7 from its worst natural enemy—the sun's harmful UV rays. Here are some ways on how you can do that:

  • Make an effort to park in the shade.

On hot summer days, your ride can suffer from blistering heat of up to 195 degrees Fahrenheit when left under direct sunlight for a certain period. Your Alpina b7's paintwork suffers a lot by simply being constantly exposed to such temperature. So even when you're in a hurry, make it a point to find a shady spot where you can park and leave your car for hours; your b7 will surely thank you for that. Doing so also means saving your interior from being kind of baked as well as your legs and butt from getting scorched when you sit down.

  • Attend to your tires.

Much like your paint, the tires also have so much to endure during sunny days. The hot weather increases the tires' running temperatures, making it necessary for you to check the tire pressure more often. Remember that underinflated tires running on hot pavements could mean disaster. As underinflated tires continue to spin on a hot road surface, they generate more friction, which makes them run even hotter. This may lead to blowout or potential loss of control over your car. So, every morning during hot seasons, while your BMW's tires are still cool, find time to check if the tires are correctly aired up.

  • Keep your car washed and waxed.

Much as humans take shower more frequently on hot days, you should also wash your car more often on summer especially when you're driving on dusty areas. After giving your buggy a good bathe, it's wise if you wipe it dry than allow it to dry naturally. Letting the sun dry your car can leave unsightly water spots on the surface and make its finish dull, so after washing, get your soft chamois and wipe the entire surface dry.

It also pays big time if you wax your car after washing as it adds an extra layer of protection for your paint. Experts recommend washing the vehicle at the end of every season to prepare the car's surface from the nuisances brought in by the new season. Waxing locks the natural oil of the car's paint and prevents water and snow from seeping onto the finish and causing damage.

  • Put on your windshield sun shade.

Of course, you have to pay attention to your Alpina b7's interior, too. One way you can do that is to put on a windshield sun shade. This will protect your dash, front seats, steering wheel, and center console from too much heat that could cause surface deterioration. Such shade also helps minimize the heat that gets into the interior on scorching summer days.
