Bosch Oxygen Sensor Guides

Bosch Oxygen Sensor

Whatever type of automobile you are driving, vehicle performance will always be a priority that’s second to safety. If all of a sudden, you notice a decrease in your vehicle’s fuel efficiency and power, you might want to look under the hood to inspect your oxygen sensor. We know that looking for an O2 sensor doesn’t rock your socks, so we did the searching and the testing for you. We installed the Bosch oxygen sensor on our ’97 Ford Ranger, and here’s what we found out.

Features

  • 26-inch wire
  • Heated sensor
  • Planar-type design
  • With submersible patented connection system
  • With posi-lock connectors
  • Individually sold

What we liked

  • Installation was a breeze. After we’ve spliced the wires, we were able to bed in the O2 sensor easily. Despite the minor modification, we were able to complete the installation in less than an hour.
  • Connecting the wirings is very straightforward. We matched the universal connector wires with no problem at all.
  • Compared with other oxygen sensors of the same type, this one from Bosch is relatively inexpensive. The price is much lower than what you’d pay for with other brands.
  • The part comes with posi-lock connectors that make splicing wires into the harness connector a lot easier.
  • The submersible-patented connection system helps the sensor withstand extreme temperatures.
  • The part is widely available. You can easily find a Bosch oxygen sensor replacement online or in any local auto parts store. With plenty of options to choose from, you will surely find an O2 sensor that’s a perfect fit for your vehicle.

What we didn’t like

  • We had to splice the wires before we could install the sensor. It’s not that of a big deal, since the task took only a couple of minutes to finish. If you know how to use a soldering iron and to splice wires, then installing this O2 sensor shouldn’t be a problem. However, a direct plug-in feature would be great especially for those who are not so adept at tackling vehicle wirings.

Our final say

Despite the need for slight modification, the Bosch oxygen sensor is an excellent stock replacement for worn-out O2 sensors. With its inexpensive price tag and exceptional performance, this oxygen sensor is worth every single dollar. We appreciate how it resuscitated the life back into our trusted workhorse that is the ’97 Ford Ranger.
