You have to keep track of your brake fluid level because it slowly rises as you push the piston back in place. This is particularly important when you’ve already installed the brake pads on one side since the fluid level has already increased during installation. Expect the fluid level to rise further as you retract the piston on the other side. If you think the fluid will overflow, better get a turkey baster to suck out some of the fluid. You must prevent such fluid from overflowing as it is highly corrosive. You can just top it off as soon as you’re done and the amount of fluid in the reservoir is below the "MAX" level.
If the grooves are deep, you have no other choice but to replace your brake disc. Grooves on the rotors will make the pads touch only the highest point, therefore reducing its braking power. As the pads are pressed against the rotor, deep grooves also shred the friction material. Also, the rotor will lose its ability to evenly distribute the heat produced when braking, causing hotspots.
If the rotors have surface rust, it’s normal for the brakes to squeal the first few times you apply them. This squealing sound should slowly vanish as the rust wears off.
