Toyota Bumper Articles

Some of the car enthusiasts replace their bumpers due to damage, or maybe a need for heavy protection or just an accessory to change the look of their vehicle. Sometimes, the idea of having the bumper on your vehicle is to give you a good departure angle, and that serves as an attach point for your rear shackle hanger.

Bumpers are more than just those metal parts that is wrapped around at the fore and aft of all the road vehicles that you can see. They are particular equipment that includes a sensitive electronics, with a cynical lattice of engineering and space age materials. Like this Toyota Bumper is such a huge thing that you would always want to protect you from the oncoming vehicle towards you. It is always safe to have front bumpers and rear bumpers on your car because they do the best job in protecting your safety. Since they were introduced in the auto industry, the car bumpers have grown ever safer, but the materials been used in their manufacture is radically expensive.

The Toyota bumper is barely designed to prevent or else to reduce the physical damage to the front and rear ends of passenger motor vehicles in low-speed collisions. Actually, these bumpers are not typically designed just to be a structural components that would extremely will contribute to the vehicle crashworthiness, or even to be a an occupant protection during the front or rear collisions. It is not a safety feature that is intended to prevent or sustain injury severity to occupants in the passenger cars. But immensely, it is designed to protect the hood, the trunk, the grille, the fuel, exhaust and even the cooling system as well as the safety related equipment such as the parking lights, the headlamps and the taillights in low speed collisions.

Sometimes, the safeness of the vehicle is bothering the driver. If you got your own car, of course, you'll be thinking about the safeness of it, and there are a lot of safety equipments and accessories that you can install probably in your car or vehicle to make it safer. Like the disc brakes, air bags, seat belts, the anti-lock brakes and a lot of other different auto safety equipments. But the essential part of every vehicle is its bumper and the most common would be the front bumpers. There are a lot of bumpers that is equipped in a vehicle, and bumpers that are tactfully designed could make a vehicle really look great and elegant and would really enhance the look of your car.

In choosing the right bumper for your car does not only require to be a stylish one, but you have to make sure too that the bumper you choose assures you the quality that you deserve and are properly designed to absorb as much as collision impact even in a moderate-speed crashes and that would still show less apparent damage on it or even none at all.

Toyota Bumper Buyer's Guide

Toyota Motor Corporation has been in business for over 80 years now. It is one of the most reliable car manufacturers in the world. In fact, it ranked as the second best-selling car brand globally, with over 3-million units sold in 2019. As more Americans buy Toyota vehicles, the demand for quality OE replacement parts continues to rise. One of the most sought-after Toyota replacement parts is the bumper, as it’s prone to damage.

If you’re in the market for OE Toyota bumper replacements, here are some of the important facts you need to know.

Who manufactures genuine Toyota parts?

Toyota has multiple suppliers for different parts categories, including Denso Corporation and Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. Denso manufactures electronic components such as air conditioning systems, while Aisin is responsible for supplying engine, drivetrain, body, and chassis components. Both Denso and Aisin were originally part of Toyota but later became independent companies. Apart from being the principal suppliers for Toyota, the two manufacturers also make products for other carmakers.

Are there differences between OEM and OE replacement Toyota bumpers?

You’ve probably come across the terms OEM and OE in your search for a Toyota bumper replacement. These terms could get a little confusing at times and it’s your responsibility to know the differences between the two. Here’s what you need to know about OEM parts and OE replacement parts.

Original Equipment Manufacturer or OEM parts are products that you can directly buy from a manufacturer, which in this case is Toyota. OEM parts are manufactured by the company’s official parts supplier. They are labeled with the carmaker’s brand and are sold in dealerships. An OEM bumper is priced higher than its OE replacement or aftermarket counterpart.

OE Replacements are parts manufactured by multiple independent part manufacturers. They are designed to be pretty much identical to, if not better than, OEM parts. OE replacement parts undergo a strict evaluation before they’re it’s sold in the market. OE Toyota bumper replacements are relatively cheaper compared to OEM parts. Apart from being cheaper, there’s also a wide selection of brands to choose from and a flexible price range.

OE Toyota bumper replacements

Toyota bumper designs vary per generation of each model in the brand’s current and past lineups. OE Toyota bumper replacements are usually made of plastic, regular steel, and high-strength steel. It is important to note that OE replacement bumpers for your Toyota are just as good as their OEM counterparts, both in durability and fit.

How are OE Toyota bumper replacements as good as OEM?

In case you didn’t know, independent parts manufacturers study OEM parts to replicate them as closely as possible. The reverse-engineering process involved in manufacturing OE replacement parts allow the manufacturers to further improve the part if there are structural defects and issues.

Delivery time also makes OE replacement bumpers more favorable than OEM parts. OEM parts typically take weeks to get to your doorstep. OE parts, on the other hand, may only take a couple of days to arrive. The reason for this is that with all the rivaling brands manufacturing a certain part, stock is not usually a problem.

Want only the best-quality parts? CarParts.com offers high-quality parts from the most reputable brands in the market.

How much is an OE Toyota bumper replacement?

Prices of OE Toyota bumper replacements vary depending on the model and generation they fit, brand, material, and quantity being sold. In addition to those, CarParts.com can have discount promos, which drop the price tags a little bit. A Toyota bumper replacement could cost you anywhere between $6 and $1,600.

Finding the right fit

There are tons of models and hundreds of different model generations of Toyota vehicles from past lineups down to the current. To find the right fit easily, indicate the necessary details about your vehicle. For example, if you’re looking for a 2015 Toyota Tacoma bumper, input 2015 Toyota Tacoma to narrow the results with Toyota Tacoma front bumpers and rear bumpers. There are also categories, such as color finish, location of installation, material, and configuration, under the “Shop By” section, which you can use to further improve your search.

How to Fix Your Damaged Toyota Bumper

Bumpers are more than just aesthetic accessories that enhance the look of your vehicle. They are also equipment that contains sensitive electronics, built with cutting edge engineering, and space age materials. It is also built to be easily repairable. The Toyota bumper is designed to prevent or reduce the physical damage to the front and rear ends of passenger motor vehicles in low-speed collisions. Most people don't consider bumpers a big deal until they're involved in a collision. In the unfortunate case that it happens, you might realize that your bumpers have saved you from serious damage to your vehicle and to yourself as well. That's because they are also designed to absorb some of the impact during a crash. Here's a guide on how you can restore, remedy, and repair your busted bumper.

Difficulty level: Moderate

Things you'll need:

  • Heat gun
  • Sand
  • Masking tape
  • FiberFlex
  • 2020 SMC hardset filler
  • Primer
  • Paint (corresponding your car's paint color)

Step 1: Repair the dents on your bumper surface by using a heat gun to soften the plastic and pushing out the dent from underneath.

Step 2: After pushing out the dents, align the cracked bumper as much as you can.

Step 3: Remove the paint from the bumper surface by using sandpaper. This will also make it easy for the primer to adhere to the bumper. Use masking tape to protect the taillight when sanding. Put in a channel along the crack and bury mesh into the plastic. Insert the mesh deep enough so that it will not be visible when the repair is finished.

Step 4: Fill in the remainder of the ‘channel' using fiberflex.

Step 5: When you are done sanding and contouring the fiberflex, lay on a skim coat 2020 SMC hardset filler to fill in the low spots.

Step 6: Finish sanding the 2020 SMC hardset filler, and get it smooth enough to prime.

Step 7: You can now apply a primer. Now it is ready to paint, and all of this was accomplished without removing the bumper cover.

Here are some safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Use a heat gun instead of a blow dryer

  • Wear gloves to avoid injuries and burns.

  • Ask a buddy to help you push the dented surface out.

  • If you're having difficulty with pushing the surface out, you can use a rubber mallet to help you push it.

Because of its location and function, the car bumpers are prone to damage at one time or another. The damage can include minor dents and scratches on the surface as well as major buckling and distortion of its structure. Repairing it is one great thing to do, however, when the latter happens, it's time to get a new one. Once the integrity of your car bumper has been compromised, you will need to replace it.
