Hi,
HID stands for high-intensity discharge. These bulbs are an electrical gas-discharge lamp that produces light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a translucent or transparent fused quartz or fused alumina arc tube. They light better compared to the conventional halogen bulbs and are commonly used on the new and high-end types of vehicles these days.
