If you are overprotective of your hood and windshield, then you better install a bug deflector. Also called a bug shield, this component prevents pitting on the hood and damage to the windshield by carrying bugs over the top of the vehicle. How is this so? Your bug shield does its protecting by complementing the less aerodynamic design of your utility vehicle’s windshield and hood. Since your truck or SUV has a sharper angle between the hood and the windshield (unlike passenger cars), this design makes these car types susceptible to being hit by pebbles and bugs. Thus, with a bug shield as an add-on, you will also be able to guard the front of your vehicle from pebbles, dust, and other road debris. Protect your utility vehicle by installing a quality bug shield like one from EGR. However, let us first see if your money will be well spent for one.
We tested this component on a Nissan Serena and an Infiniti QX56, and here is what we have to say:
If you often drive near and around forests, then getting this bug shield for your utility vehicle will surely keep you from cleaning off dead bugs stuck on your windshield. It seems to work, it looks good, and it comes with a good price and warranty.
