Fabric Top Care: How to Clean Convertible Tops
The fabric top of a convertible vehicles is a delicate material that needs frequent care and attention. They are constantly exposed to extreme temperatures, dirt, pollution and many other things that could ruin it with the passage of time. Regular cleaning of the fabric top can make it look good for years to come so be sure to make it a habit.

Tools that you'll need:
- Fabric top shampoo
- Fabric top cleaner
- Fabric top protective solution
- Soft bristled brush
- Soft cloth
Step 1: Park your car in a warm area. Avoid parking it under the sun since it could dry out your cleaning formulas before you could wash them out. This may end up damaging the fabric top.
Step 2: Rinse the fabric top with water to get rid of some of the dirt.
Step 3: Put the shampoo in a bucket of water and work it into a thick lather. Apply the lather on the fabric top with the brush.
Step 4: Brush the fabric top thoroughly to get rid of stuck and hardened dirt.
Step 5: Rinse the fabric top with water.
Step 6: Use the fabric top cleaner if there is still some dirt remaining. Spray the cleaner onto the remaining dirt and brush thoroughly.
Step 7: Allow the cleaner to set for about ten minutes before scrubbing the whole fabric top and rinsing it with water. Repeat if necessary.
Step 8: Let the fabric top of your convertible dry out completely.
Clean the fabric top of your convertible at least twice a month to keep in top condition. Don't forget to spray it with the protective solution when you are done.
Avoid useful harsh chemicals and rough cleaning tools on your fabric tops. They could easily damage the top and turn a cleaning job into replacement job. As much as possible, try to use cleaning formulas and tools made especially for fabric tops.
