I own a Fiat X-1/9. It is a stunner to look at and fantastic around corners. My only complaint about it is that the front headlight has to be put up manually. How can I improve it?
It is either the problem is with a blown fuse on your headlights or the diodes on your headlights themselves. If the problem is a blown fuse, you just have to locate the mini fuses in the fuse box. They are little hard to find but they are out there. What you are going to do is to simply remove them and check them.
If the problem is not your fuse but the diodes on the headlight motors, it's a different thing. Normally, the diodes are bare to elements and often break. Soldering new ones in will surely solve the problem. Be sure they face the correct way. Rarely do the motors themselves cause this problem.
Help! My wipers are really slow and sometimes they do not work at all. I visited a forum online and others said it's one of the common complaints about Fiat X-1/9. How do I fix it?
It could be that the linkage assembly is rusty or if your wipers do not work at all, the linkage assembly could be seized. To fix this problem, you yourself should test them. First, disconnect the linkage from the motor then test them whether you can move them back and forth without exerting much effort. You need to disassemble the linkage so as the wiper motor. The brushes should be in good shape. If they are worn, you can't do anything about it but to install a new one.
There are instances also that the wiper motors are just locked up, that is why they are not functioning well. In this case, you go check if the park switch is broken. If this clip is broken and you remove it, your wipers will still work but they won't return to the bottom of windshield when you cut the wipers off. After, you dig out the old dried grease from around the reduction gear. You do cleaning of the internals with an electric motor spray. You can easily purchase one from most auto parts stores. After that, using an amount of oil, you lube the small ball bearing at the end of the shaft. Be sure to repack the reduction gear with grease.
I am having difficulty starting my Fiat X-1/9. It's just really difficult to start. Sometimes my starter does not turn, and there are times also that there is no click present. How can I fix it?
Try to check the wire going to the solenoid. Sometimes, this wire becomes loose, breaks, or becomes corroded. The best solution is to just install a new connector. If the starter does not turn but a click is present, it is more like an intermittent problem. This happens because there is not enough voltage being supplied from the ignition switch to operate the solenoid. If the starter drags, the problem roots from a weak battery.
