Ford E-150 Club Wagon: Auto Maintenance Steps that You Should Do Monthly
Whether you have a brand-new or used car, proper and regular maintenance is necessary if you want to keep it in top condition. Even your Ford E-150 Club Wagon is no exception. Keeping your vehicle reliable all the time is just a matter of following an auto maintenance schedule. This schedule is developed by the manufacturer to let you know the recommended minimum maintenance requirements for a particular model or trim level. When you take time to regularly inspect your vehicle, it will help prevent problems that could otherwise leave you stranded on the road. Below are some auto maintenance steps that you can do for about 15 minutes each to prevent about 70% of car breakdowns and problems:
- Don't neglect the air filters.
Your vehicle's air filters are responsible for stopping silica and other solid contaminants by trapping them in the fibers that make up the filter media. The air filter needs to be efficient in trapping dirt at all times so no dirt can enter the engine and affect the combustion process. At the same time, the air filters should be unrestrictive and allow the engine to breathe normally. The engine needs 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of air for every gallon of fuel burned. Because of this, the filters quickly get dirty especially if you are driving in dirty or dusty environment. When the filters are dirty, you need to change them or they will get clogged and have restricted airflow. That is not good for the engine. The recommended replacement interval for air filters ranges from 30,000 to 60,000 miles, but it's better to consult your owner's manual first for the manufacturer-recommended replacement schedule and interval.
- Check the oil, transmission, and other fluid levels.
The engine oil, the transmission fluid, the coolant, power steering fluid, and brake fluid are five of the most important fluids in your car that you need to check regularly. Recommended checking schedule for the engine oil is every time you fill up with gas. Most modern cars are fine with once a month checking, though. When it comes to changing the oil, you better check your owner's manual for the manufacturer recommendation. Monthly check, on the other hand, is recommended for your transmission fluid and replacement should take place between 50,000 to 100,000 miles. The coolant can go as long as 24 months without checking but you should make sure that there is enough in the reservoir. You should also check your brake fluid every time you change your oil and strictly check your power steering fluid once a month.
The first thing that you should understand with your battery is that it is where all the electricity in the car begins and ends. It's the heart of the car's electrical system and therefore needs to be properly maintained. Check your batter at least once a month and make sure that the contacts and connections are free from dirt and corrosion. A bad battery terminal will give low voltage and may result in electrical system failure.
- Keep an eye on your tires.
The entire weight of your Ford E-150 Club Wagon is being carried by your tires. So you need to consider your tires as a vital component in your vehicle's overall performance. By doing regular checks, you can spot tire issues before they become full-blown problems. Proper tire pressure is the first thing that you should check. Driving with under-inflated tires can make your car unsafe. This will also cause the tires to wear faster and unevenly. The result: premature tire breakdown and then you will need to replace them.
