FAQs—Ford E-150 Econoline Club Wagon
When should I change the engine oil and oil filter on my Econoline?
Ford recommends changing oil and oil filter on an Econoline every six months or 5,000 miles for normal driving conditions. Change oil every three months or 3,000 miles when you drive your vehicle in severe dust and when the engine is idled for extended periods.
I am considering to buy a passenger van. Is the Ford E-150 Econoline Club Wagon a good choice?
The Econoline is a full-sized, high-capacity van. If passenger comfort is at the top of your shopping criteria, then this van from Ford makes the cut. It makes a great choice for a van, considering that Ford generally offers it vehicles at relatively lower prices and has that undisputable reputation for reliability. Consider also its staying power in the industry. For over 30 years until Ford stopped its production in 2014, the Econoline had been Ford's best-selling full-size van. That says a lot about not just its popularity but also the trust people have on this passenger van.
Where is the spare tire located on the Econoline? I could not seem to find it.
The spare tire is stored at the rear below the frame. If you have to retrieve it, do the following: open the rear doors and detach the access cover from the rubber strip at the back of the left door; insert the tip of a jack handle through the access hole and then turn it from right to left until you can pull the spare tire towards the rear from under your van; and take out the retainer from the wheel.
To store the spare tire, use a lug nut wrench to turn the actuator hole from right to left until the retainer can be inserted into the wheel; mount the retainer through the center of the wheel; and secure the tire by turning the handle from left to right until the lift mechanism slips.
How do I open the hood of a Ford E-150 Econoline Club Wagon? The hood latch would not budge no matter how I move it forcefully.
Your hood latch needs to be oiled every six months so that it will not get stuck each time you open the hood. When you are done oiling the latch, you can now open the hood. First, find the hood release handle near the parking brake release handle. Pull the hood release handle and push the hood down while pushing the hood latch handle at the back of the grille. Then unmount the hood support from the retaining clip, where you can find on the radiator support. Finally, put the hood support into the slot labeled PROP under the hood.
To close the hood, lift it to make the support rod come out from the hole in the hood. Mount the support rod in its retaining clip and then close the hood. Make sure it latches on securely by trying to lift the hood after closing it.
How do I lock and unlock the power doors on an Econoline?
