Removing the radiator covers
Make sure that the vehicle is cool before opening the hood. Find the two plastic shield coverings that protect the radiator area. These covers are secured in position by small clips that let go without difficulty by pulling the covers. When pulling the covers, remove the one in the passenger side first before the driver's.
Removing the grille assembly
Both the grille frame and the grille, which complete the Dodge grille assembly, must be taken out first to release the grille. Use a low-profile Philips screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the grille assembly to the bumper. Screws are generally located on these positions: one on top, one at the bottom, and one in each side. When the screws are safely removed from the grille assembly, the grille frame would still be secured in position by tabs along its border. You can see these tabs from inside the engine cubicle. From outside the vehicle, gently pry the grille frame from the bumper by using a slotted screwdriver. Work along the border of the frame and free each tabs. You may wrap your screwdriver with electrical tape or masking tape to prevent any scratches.
Separating the grille from the frame
To separate the grille from its frame, use a slotted screwdriver to gently pry upward the tab clips from the outside. Then, also use the slotted screwdriver to release the inner clips. By now, the grille is separated from the frame.
Preparing to install the new grille
Using the drill, make a 1/8” hole in each frame tab, which holds the stock grille in position. Make sure to align the hole against the retaining clip on the finished side of the lip.
Installing the new grille into the frame
Using nylon ties, fit the Dodge grille assembly into its corresponding position and secure it properly. Make necessary adjustments to achieve a perfect fit. Cut off the tie tails with an angle cutter or snip pliers.
Installing optionalfull-width lower grille
If you opt for a full-width lower grille, you need to install this first before remounting the grille frame. If not, you skip this step. Using a drill, make 8 holes in 1/16” from approximately 1/8” of the bumper edge so the 22 gage wires are not seen when secured. Position the lower grille against the bumper's inside edge and loosely attach the wires. When all 8 wires are fastened loosely, use pliers to twist and tighten all wires.
Finishing and doing necessary adjustments
Since the stock grille has been removed, the grille frame may be adjusted as well as the bumper to accept the grille frame. Use nylon ties to secure the grille. Put back the radiator covers.
