Question: Whats it for?A Shopper / Nov 02, 2020
Hi,
A heater valve is the device that controls the flow of the coolant from the engine to the heater core. It is usually mounted near the firewall or located on the inlet or outlet port of the heater core. For more detail information, please click the link below and scroll down to the mid bottom portion to see it.

it's a valve controlled by a vacuum line, it connects to the hot water (heater) hose going to your heater core. What it does is shut off the hot water going to the heater core in the summer when you have the temp turned all the way down and just want to run the fan or the air conditioning. That way the cool air is not blowing over a hot heater core, defeating the purpose

The heater control valve works like a door. When Vacuum is allowed, the door closes and will not let
the water circulate and you will not have any heat go inside your vehicle. or the opposite on some vehicle. and that is why you have a rubber band on it to keep it close. you might also have a vacuum problem.

Question: Will that make my mountaineer blow hot air ?Jeff B. / Feb 06, 2022
Hi Jeff, I'm glad to assist you. No, the heater control valve is typically mounted near the firewall and acts as the valve that allows coolant to flow from the engine to the heater core, which is located inside of the vehicle. We have a vehicle-specific service repair manual for your car with part number 36024, by Haynes publication. This would help you in diagnosing the problem with your car. The possible parts that are affected are the blower motor assembly or the blower motor resistor. Grab our sale price offer and click the link below to order these items today. I hope this helps.
