How to Replace Your Ride's Intercooler Hose
Different hoses in your vehicle should not be brushed off. One of the vital hoses in your vehicle include the intercooler hose. It functions by helping the entire intercooler system to reduce air charge, which allows for better working temperature of the engine. And, voila! You will have a smoother ride because of this. So if your intercooler hose starts to fail, you must immediately replace it. Here are the tools and steps that will help you to do the task efficiently:
Difficulty level: Moderate
What you'll need:
- Lug wrench
- New intercooler hose
Step 1: As a safety measure, you must disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery terminal before starting the replacement process. Make sure that the engine of your vehicle has already cooled down as well.
Step 2: Look for the air filter and airflow meter, and remove them. These components will then allow you to have proper access to your intercooler hose.
Step 3: Also, you must take off the bolts of the fuse box with the help of a wrench. Make sure that you will be able to store the fastening bolts in a safe container so that they will be ready to be reattached later on.
Step 4: With the help of floor jacks and jack stands, lift your vehicle off the ground. In addition, engage the emergency brake of your vehicle. This will allow you to work on the wheel area properly.
Step 5: With the help of a lug wrench, loosen up the wheel lugs. This will then allow the tire on the front area to be removed.
Step 6: This time, locate the trim panel that seals the intercooler assembly in place. Take this panel away to gain access to the components of the assembly.
Step 7: You will now see the blowoff valve. To remove this, use a screwdriver to loosen and take off its fastening screws.
Step 8: With the help of the wrench once again, take away the bolts that are fastened to the intercooler pipe bracket.
Step 9: You will now be able to look at the old intercooler hose. To remove this, release the screws of the clamp that holds the old intercooler hose and the intercooler pipe together.
Step 10: You may now install your new intercooler hose into the intercooler assembly. Make sure that all the fastening tools that comes with it are attached as well. These components include the blowoff valve all the way to the front tire.
Step 11: Reconnect the intercooler pipe that you have removed earlier to your new intercooler hose. Ensure that its screws and clamps will be fastened properly afterwards.
Step 12: Reinstall all the remaining components that you have removed earlier as well in reverse order, together with their respective fasteners. Reconnect the ground cable to the battery terminal afterwards.
Step 13: You may now remove the floor jacks and jack stands in order to lower your vehicle carefully. Start the engine to test the efficiency of your new intercooler hose.
