What does an engine oil system cleaner do? When should it be used on my Lexus?

The oil system cleaner is used for pre-cleaning the engine surfaces and for protection. With this cleaner, oil is able to reach its optimum performance. In case sludge has formed, the cleaner helps remove this sticky, gel-like substance, along with varnishes and carbon deposits. The engine should be running idle for about 15 minutes after, prior to changing the oil and the filter.

How often should the oil filter of my Lexus be replaced?

The oil filter should be replaced according to the prescribed maintenance schedule by the manufacturer. This should be checked and changed every time you perform an oil change. Otherwise, dirt and harmful particles that accumulated on the filter will contaminate the oil.
