Taking Care of Your Lexus L460 Inside and Out
Lexus is synonymous to luxury—and nothing compares with the luxury the L460 offers. The model is, in fact, the Japanese carmaker's flagship luxury vehicle for years. It is not hard to see why. The elegance on its sexy spindle grille, L-shaped fog lights, and all-LED exterior lighting (the first of its kind in the world) can put many luxury cars in shame. Its interior is every inch a Lexus as well, with its ambient lighting and cabin quietness that are hard to match. But the luxury in Lexus L460 is not just about looks. It is comfortable and aerodynamic as well.
Making all these things last all boils down to maintenance. Never pay attention to its cleanliness, and its elegance will soon turn into rubbish. Take care of your L460, and it will take care of your comfort and image on the road. Here are the ways to achieve that:
- Clean the aluminum wheels gently.
A neutral detergent will do the trick. You may use the wax and mild detergent you are using on your car's paint finish on your wheels as well. Cleaning products with abrasive or strong chemicals will just ruin the surface. Never use hard brushes, too—you do not want scratches all over your aluminum wheels.
- After driving your LS460 under harsh road conditions, wash it right away.
Road salt and moisture are rust-friendly elements. Do not let them linger on your car. When you drive on salted roads or close to the sea coast, wash your car immediately. Nature has its innocent way to ruin your car's paint finish—be it in the form of bird droppings, insect droppings, dead insects, tree sap, and more. Unless you want to keep them as souvenirs, get rid of them fast. Immediate washing is also needed if you have driven your car in muddy, dusty, and other dirty road conditions.
- Clean the exterior lights carefully.
Wash the lights gently—do not scrub with a hard brush and do not use organic substances so that the surface will not get damaged. When waxing your car, avoid the lenses because wax may damage them.
- Avoid using certain types of detergent when cleaning your L460's interior.
On the seats, do not use acidic chemicals such as alcohol, benzene, and thinner. On the areas other than the seats, do not use bleach, benzene, dye, gasoline, and alkaline. These can cause streaks and discolorations on your car's interior.
- Never wash the vehicle floor with water.
Electrical parts under the floor of your car will get damaged if they come into contact with water. Also, water can cause the interior to rust. Instead, use a vacuum cleaner that will suck all the dirt and dust, and wipe dirty areas with a damp cloth.
- Clean the leather areas regularly.
To keep the interior of your L460 looking always brand new, Lexus recommends cleaning it at least twice a year. This includes the leather parts. Start your cleaning regimen with removing dust and dirt using a vacuum cleaner. Excess dirt can be wiped off using a soft cloth soaked in diluted detergent. To remove moisture, wipe it off with a dry, soft cloth, and then let it dry in a cool, shaded area.
