Tips on Buying Car Mirror Hardware
Wouldn't it be cool if your car's side mirrors hovered on the sides? Unfortunately, we still don't have the technology available to make that happen. And until that day arrives, we will have to rely on the swing arms, bushings, and other mirror hardware to keep the various mirrors in your car secured in their respective places. Here, we will give you some helpful tips on buying mirror hardware for your vehicle.
Form or function?
When buying car mirror hardware, one of the things that you need to decide on is whether you just want a basic mirror or one with additional bells and whistles. There are different types of car mirrors available on the market today, with some providing the bare essentials, while others provide additional features for added convenience or aesthetics. Some side mirrors, for example, come with a built-in turn signal or have a sleek chrome finish, while there are towing mirrors that are fitted with LEDs and a built-in heater to melt frost or ice. But whether you choose form or function, it is important that you choose the appropriate car hardware for it. So if you have or are planning on buying a car mirror with additional features, make sure to purchase mirror hardware that would have these features as well (including the electrical wiring, for example).
Does it have a warranty?
While it may seem so frivolous for such a simple thing like a side mirror support arm, we strongly recommend buying hardware that comes with a warranty. Typically, mirror hardware has a one-year limited warranty from the manufacturer, so check if the hardware you are planning to get will be covered by a similar warranty. If you are planning on buying the mirror hardware online, it may also be covered by a separate warranty by the online retailer.
