Storage Bag Guides

Tips on Buying a Car Storage Bag

A car storage bag is a bag or cover you use to hide components of your car from the elements, like for example the freedom panels of your jeep that you wish to put away in a safe place when you don't want to put your top or roof up. It can also refer to car jackets and covers that literally cover your whole vehicle, also to protect it from the elements.

The Dos and Don'ts When Buying a Car Storage Bag

A handbag storage bag protects certain detachable parts of your vehicle or could serve as an extra bag of sorts for your extra tools that don't fit in your tool box. A car jacket storage bag (also known as a car cover) protects your whole car from dust, dirt, pets, and pests.

At any rate, here are the dos and don'ts in buying either type of bag.

Dos

  • Know which type of storage bag material best suits your needs. There are some made of nylon and others made of vinyl. Nylon is durable, lightweight, flexible, sunlight-proof, water-resistant, shock-absorbent, and windproof. Vinyl is the world's most versatile plastic material that can be thick or thin, colorful or clean, and rigid or soft as needed.
  • Use the online catalog to find the right size of car jacket storage bag for your car. They usually come in charts. For example, S1 refers to 108-168 inch bags, S2 refers to 109-180 inch bags, M1 refers to 121 to 198 inch bags, M2 refers to 127 to 210 inch bags, L1 refers to 139 to 228 inch bags, L2 refers to 145 to 240 inch bags, and so on and so forth.
  • Choose the car storage bag in accordance to its usage. The bags commonly available for jeeps should be large enough to store parts of it, like the freedom or roof panels. For ordinary cars, you have automotive bags that serve as an extra storage container for wrench and socket sets you can't fit into your toolbox. For car jackets, go with the car jacket size that fits the entirety of your car.
  • Search for the toughest bags around to ensure complete protection of its contents, whether it's your car tools, car components, or the car itself. As such, if you're going for a vinyl bag, go for heavy-duty ones with thick material and loads of pockets so that you can store and segregate all sorts of stuff there.

Don'ts

  • DON'T buy the first bag you see. Make a price comparison chart and see which bag is more cost-effective for you and your budget. In other words, go with the bag that's made of the best material or has the biggest size relative to their cost and what you can afford
  • DON'T settle for anything less than nylon or vinyl storage handbags. In fact, when searching for storage bags, check their usage, the material they're made from, user comments or even third-party reviews on their quality, and the like.
  • DON'T use storage bag car jackets that are approved only for indoor use, thinking that they're rain shields and car umbrellas when they're really not and should only be utilized for car storage within your parkway or garage. That's a different sort of storage car jacket.
  • DON'T forget to never put your car inside your car cover or storage bag jacket while it's wet or has recently been washed without drying; that will only promote corrosion.
