Tailgate Window Lift Motor: How to Replace It
If there is an additional access to your vehicle that you must be thankful for, that must be the tailgate in the cargo area. And to make your access on this area easier, you have the tailgate window lift motor. Because of this part, you do not have to manually open or close the tailgate window. But over time, the tailgate window lift motor may be prone to failing. Once this happens, you must be able to replace it. Here are the tools and procedures that can help you:

- Socket wrench
- Adhesive tape
- New tailgate window lift motor
Step 1: To avoid any electrical accidents before starting the process, you must disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery terminal.
Step 2: In order to gain access to the tailgate window lift motor, lower the position of your tailgate first.
Step 3: With the help of a screwdriver, loosen and remove the panel mounting screws. In some models of vehicles, there is a top panel that has extra bolts on it. With the help of the appropriate socket or wrench, remove those bolts as well. Turn the tools in a counterclockwise direction.
Step 4: Using a socket wrench this time, remove all the bolts that are fastened to the door panel. This can help you to move the control switch panel away from the door frame.
Step 5: This time, loosen and take off all the screws that connect the door panel to the door frame with the help of the screwdriver once again.
Step 6: Tape the corners of the window glass and the top portion of the door frame. The adhesive will keep them in place in the process.
Step 7: Locate the electrical connector on the base part of the window motor, and disconnect it. Remove the bolts that fasten the window motor into place afterwards with the socket wrench.
Step 8: You may now remove the old tailgate window lift motor by disconnecting its wiring harness. To do this, take away the adapter plug from the motor's socket.
Step 9: To fully take off the old tailgate window lift motor from its mounting area, remove its bolts in a counter clockwise motion. You may easily lift the old motor away from the gear of the window regulator afterwards.
Step 10: You may now install your new tailgate window lift motor on its mounting area, which is located in the window regulator. Return its bolts in reverse motion, which is in clockwise direction.
Step 11: Reattach the screws and bolts that you have removed earlier. Also, reconnect the wiring harness of the motor.
Step 12: Remove the adhesive tapes that you placed around the window glass and the door frame. Return the window glass into its proper place after this.
Step 13: Once all the necessary parts are set back into place, you may reconnect the negative ground cable to the battery terminal. Test the efficiency of your new tailgate window lift motor, and then you're finally done!
