How to Install Your Turn Signal Mirror Module with Ease
When you're driving, one of the most important parts that help you to see the road and the vehicles clearly are your turn signal mirrors. Step 1: Remove the dashboard panel under your steering wheel. You may seek the help of an assistant to hold the flashlight for you if you are working inside your garage and not in broad daylight.
Step 2: Locate the ignition or ACC wire. If you do not know where this wire is located, you may refer to your vehicle's owner's manual. You can also search the internet to know what this wire looks like.
Step 3: Locate both turn signal wires. You may also want to refer to your manual to know what they look like.
Step 4: Attach the black (ground) wire to bare metal surface. Make sure to do this carefully. It might also help if you can use gloves just to be safe.
Step 5: Splice the brown wire from the turn signal mirror module to right turn signal wire. Do this carefully to avoid cutting it.
Step 6: Splice the orange wire from the turn signal mirror module to left turn signal wire. Make sure that you get the colors right before proceeding with the splicing.
Step 7: Splice the red wire from the turn signal mirror module to ignition or ACC wire.
Step 8: Once the colored wires have been spliced, you need to take a break to clean your vehicle's side view mirrors. When you are done, remove the protective tape backing from the adhesive on the rear wireless turn signal mirrors. Place them on the vehicle's mirror with firm pressure for at least 30 seconds to a minute.
Step 9: Secure the module underneath the dashboard. Make sure that the adhesive is intact to keep it from falling off.
Step 10: Replace the dashboard panel underneath the steering wheel.
It would take you at least 30 minutes to an hour to install your new turn signal mirror modules. It is important to replace the modules of both of your mirrors at once since they will succumb to wear and tear at the same age and mileage.
