Audi A6 Guides

For superior performance and luxury, you can count on the Audi A6. A sedan that's sexy and powerful, Audi has been working hard to boost the performance. Audi has added two more higher-performance models, which is the 2.7T twin-turbo version rated at 250 hp and the 4.2 V-8 making a 300 hp. It has manipulated the option packages and changed some of the trim items. One is the deletion of the steering-wheel shift buttons, gone from cars equipped with the five-speed automatic.

The latest A6 of the Audi has made significant progress in many areas, where it is roomier and more rewarding to drive. Its engineering ensures quality luxury car features that firmly enhanced the driver and passengers comfort. Audis have set new standards in terms of fit and finish as well as craftsmanship and ergonomic efficiency. The materials and accessories used by the Audi are first class. Its colors and trims are expressive of good taste. Every amenity and feature in the Audi speaks of excellence in engineering and design.

The latest A6 has shed most of the mushiness of previous versions. From the steering that's not only as sensuous and tactile, but quick and precise. Its body roll is more effectively confident and has less understeer. The A6 has generated a higher level of road adhesion than the predecessor. It remains neutral all the way to the edge grip where mild understeer prevails. Though this sedan is much more of a head turner, its driving character is one of modesty with efficiency.

Audi A6 is one of the premiere vehicles to come from Audi, the eminent European carmaker. Thus, Audi A6 owners can expect to enjoy a high quality, luxurious and durable vehicle that exhibits the best in automotive engineering and design. Audi A6 owners can keep their vehicle in top shape by using only the best replacement Audi A6 parts whenever the need arises. These first class yet affordable Audi A6 parts are available from Auto Parts Inner, one of the most reliable auto parts source in the internet today.

FAQs—Audi A6

How does the Audi A6 hold its own against models from other prestigious German carmakers?

The midsize Audi A6 delivers impressive value at a very competitive price. The A6 has been rated highly for its engaging driving dynamics, long list of features and its powerful yet fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel engines. Buyers also enjoy the quiet and attractive cabin that is overflowing with intuitive high-tech gadgetry. Materials and the overall design are nothing short of first-rate. Winter-weather capability is another plus, as all Audis are equipped with all-wheel drive.

It's worthy to note that all generations of the A6 were equipped with either front-wheel drive or Torsen-based four-wheel drive - packaged by Audi as their "Quattro" system.

Do the four rings that appear in Audi's logo mean anything?

In 1928, auto industry rival DKW acquired Audi. A few years later, DKW and Audi merged with local carmakers Horch and Wanderer to form the country's first auto union, and the entity that Audi is today. The four rings in the newly formedcompany's logo stood for each member of the conglomerate and celebrated the strength of their business venture.

What was special about the Audi A6?

Now on its fourth generation, the Audi A6 is an executive sedan that is also available in wagon and saloon configurations powered by a 200-horsepower, 2.8-liter V-6 engine. In later years, it was the first car to debut Audi's MMI or Multi-Media Interface and 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine that could provide fuel economy of up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway.

Lastly, in 2005, the A6 was voted World Car of the Year by the international auto community, and also won the Practical Caravan "Towcar of the Year" award due to its towing capabilities.

How come my Audi A6 won't start, but the MMI, lights, seat memory work fine?

There is a defect in the transponder of the steering column. Hence, the onboard computer cannot identify the smartkey anymore. In many cases, the entire steering column had to be replaced, and the smart key re-programmed.

The "check engine" indicator of my Audi A6 keeps going on and offindiscriminately. What's causing this? What needs to be done when the yellow ABS light of my Audi A6 starts blinking?

A faulty torque converter is most likely the cause of the blinking light as well as repair code P0741. Replacement of the torque converter is required.

This means that the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module may not function properlycausing the ABS light to turn on. These malfunctioning modulesmustbe replaced to fix the ABS operation.

There is oil leaking from my Audi A6's transmission output shaft seal. Is this something serious?

Fluid leaks sometimes occur on the drive shaft at the rear of your car's transmission. According to technicians, replacing the seal will commonly resolve this issue.Other symptoms of wear or failure would be a clunking noise when accelerating or shifting between drive and reverse, squeaking while driving, and vibration while driving.

Audi 6: First-Rate, Classy, and Capable

The executive-car segment is marked by classiness and compelling style, but price does not always come as the first buying criterion. The Audi 6, which hit the marketplace in 1994, was everything that thick-pocketed bosses could ask for. It had specifications that matched those of its contemporaries, but it attracted consumers also due to its affordable price compared with other makes. The four generations of the Audi 6 included a lot of facelifts and upgrades, but through all these, the common goal was to make the model much more in every release.

1994 – 1999: A slight difference from the Audi 100

A rebadged version of the Audi 100 models, the first-generation units of the A6 kept the front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive control. However, the A6 had new front and rear headlights, a new grille, and several options for chassis, transmission, and engine. The units could run on diesel or petrol; the former used an inline four 1.9 Turbocharged Direct Injection, while the latter used an inline four-cylinder V6. The transmission could be 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, or 4-speed automatic.

1997 – 2003: Faster, more powerful, and more compliant

The units became more powerful in this generation, for they had an aspirited twin-turbocharged V6 or V8 that could draw out juice from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. A five-speed tiptronic automatic transmission was offered along a manual transmission, and drag coefficient was reduced with the new shell. The units became more compliant with the US standards by making the bumpers protrude a little farther outwards as well as by introducing child-seat tethers and modified suspension assemblies. Other changes included restyled headlights and grille, a shift to amber tail lights, and exposed tailpipes.

2004 – 2011: Longer, more features, and a more Audi look

In this generation, the models offered a six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive together with the new Fuel Stratified Injection technology. The units were longer and had Audi’s trademark grille. A lot of alterations were done to the interiors; an in-car entertainment system called the Multi Media Interface was introduced as well as climate control, satellite navigation, and a central screen interface.

2011 – present: Better control, easier and safer to drive

The fourth-generation of the Audi A6 offered more power as well as convenience features. A base and a supercharged engine were available; the first one yielded 211-horsepower and 258-pound-feet of torque, while the second gave 310-horsepower and 325-pound-feet of torque. Aside from having a better fuel economy, these units only had an eight-speed automatic and an all-wheel drive control. Some notable features were the head-up display, the Active Lane Assist, a full-LED headlighting system as an option, and a pack of driver assistance systems.
