With the demand for the new Ford Bronco growing in the United States, it’s no surprise other global markets also want to get their hands on the vehicle. But based on recent reports, there is a chance the highly anticipated model will stay in North America.

According to a report by the German edition of Automotive News, both the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport SUVs will only be sold in three countries, all of which are in North America—the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Citing a German Ford spokesperson, the article said the model will be specifically built for North America. It also said the company is not considering any plans of exporting the vehicle whether in its standard architecture or as a right-hand drive model for the United Kingdom and Australia.

In a statement issued to Roadshow, a spokesperson for Ford said the company is currently focused on launching the Bronco in North America. They also refused to comment further about the likelihood of the SUV models being exported globally.

Although Ford may have plenty of reasons not to release the Broncos beyond North America, one theory is leaning towards emissions regulations. But if the model is getting a plug-in hybrid version, it could be the model that would reach other global markets.

For the Bronco Sport, however, it seems strange why the automaker would choose not to sell it in other regions, especially Europe where the Compass and Renegade are also available. Then again, Ford is flooded with pre-orders at the moment, so that could be another reason why it is opting to stay put in North America.
