Around 10,000 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks from the 2019 model year are being recalled, according to documents published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The agency revealed that F-250 and F-350 units are being ordered to return to the dealership due to a poor weld job on the wheel end yoke, which renders the part unattached to the axle tube end, therefore affecting the steering behavior of both models.
Due to the defect, drivers may experience pulling to the left or right and notice an improper alignment of the steering wheel. It could also cause some change in the steering sensitivity of the Super Duty trucks, increasing the risk of a crash.
The documents show that both single- and dual-wheel F-250 and F-350 trucks are affected by the issue. The affected units are 4×4 variants.
Owners of the vehicles in question are advised to bring their trucks to the dealer, where a technician is instructed to inspect for the inaccurate weld. If a truck is found to have a poor weld job, Ford will replace the entire axle assembly at no extra cost to customers.
Recall notifications are expected to be sent out beginning November 9.
